Kinney has more range. Both could work here, but I’m with you on Kinney. I’d rather have a shooter.

People say that lowe would block kinney for a year and that would be a deterrent. Wouldn't Brown block kinney for 1+ years? I would think kinney has much more of an affinity for JJ than the Brown kid.
Brown is OAD player without doubt
He is that good
He will only play one year college basketball ball
He is already the best PG in U19 camp (against multiple other talented guards), so he is good enough
I hate Louisville but think Brown will be great player
Also, Kinney is true 1... He is not combo guard
I'm tired of hearing negative news about Kinney and Louisville too.
I won't post about it anymore unless he visits us, shows some real positive momentum with us, or finally makes a decision (no matter where he ends up).

Lowe will likely be back for his Senior year and Kinney probably wants to start.
I would rather have Lowe back or a portal player as my PG1.
Recruiting is very fluid. Kentucky has an NIL advantage over everybody. The best bet is to be patient and let it play out.
Brown has zero intentions of being back at UofL after his Freshman year. Even with NIL these highly rated guys are still in a hurry to get the the NBA.

Kinney has been Kelsey's top target for a while now. Prior to that Payne was going after him hard as well. Not sure he gave UofL any thought until he saw the improvement under Kelsey, and he was able to get Brown.UL all in on Kinney, per Demling.

It would be in our best interest for Kinney to wait to commit to see how Pope uses Lowe, Jasper Johnson, and Chandler. We could sell him on being the backup PG, but with these three all potentially back next year, we have a lot of minutes potentially tied up. Same with SF with Williams, Noah, Hawthorne (and Dioubate) all potentially returning next year.
UL will certainly lose 4 guards due to them being seniors and a 5th in Brown to the draft. That's a lot of minutes to throw around at the 26/27 class.
Should be interesting. Kinney has some relatives UL fans and some UK fans. He said he is going where the coach will put the ball in his hands and get him to the NBA. Took it that could be his two biggest priorities, start and get to the pro's as fast as possible. Suppose the love of the school and winning the championship comes after that for him?
If so, I think it is still good for Pope to meet Kinney soon so that he can decide quickly what he will do next
It’s too early to really tell, but I think you hit the nail on the head. UofL is going to need to reload because they should lose a lot more than we do.
We have 12 players on scholarship that could return. Not saying they will all return, that is highly unlikely, but we have a lot of guys that could come back. There’s a good chance we will return at least 8 or 9 of those guys. That’s a reasonable expectation.
So we don’t have that much room. UofL is going to be in rebuild mode.
So I think they will have a lot of money and a lot of room. I would not be shocked if UofL gets Kinney and Stokes.
I don’t think we are getting a ton of 5-star talent from HS next Spring. 1 or 2 guys who are willing to compete for rotation spots.
I think our best bet is probably Crowe, because he has a personal relationship with Coach Hart. That trust will likely play a key role in his recruitment.
After that, I don’t know if anyone else will want to come here with all that talent back.
And by the time we know for sure they are leaving next Spring most of the 5-star talent will know where they are gong, so I think it will be portal players that replace any guys that do leave early.

Rather they say it or not these 5 star freshman main goals are getting minutes and getting to the pros. Honestly, what is the percentage that a 5 star freshman will return anyway? Rather that is going to the draft or in the portal. I can only think of a handful that did not enter the draft or the portal. Knox and Richmond at Arkansas, Evans and the backup center at Duke, and the guy from Kansas I believe entered the portal and returned to Kansas.
