Tampa Bay in the bullseye of Hurricane Milton!

Just got a message from our cable/internet provided telling us that if the power goes out that our internet and cable will also be affected....

Sadly they have to put that out because people have complained on stuff like that before. We don't have the smartest bananas in the bunch these days......

No word from my aunt yet. She lives a few blocks from Tropicana.

Other aunt said they have all the roads in Pinnellas closed and tampa/st pete should shelter inside until notified.

Saw the Tropicana roof and a crane fell downtown.

The tornadoes videos from yesterday are something else.

Getting 40 mph gusts here. Didn't lose power so that's a win.

Good to hear you are good. Hope your aunt is ok.

Sounds like maybe it wasn't as bad as they thought? Or is that just cause we still haven't heard from some areas?

That would be great to see if it wasn't.

Tampa was way overdue. 100 f’ing years. Sorry for anyone else up that way but Ian smacked us hard two years ago we didn’t need that shit again/that soon. So fortunate we didn’t get direct hit here in FM. Still got quite a bit of storm surge though.

Florida had over 100 tornado warnings yesterday which is a new record I think.

The winds died down decently but the flooding is pretty bad.

EDIT: Disney is NOT flooded though at least not that extent in the pictures. That picture is fake and AI generated.

There is however bad flooding in Tampa area. Due to the nearly 13 inches of rain they got.

Landscape debris and no wifi/TV for 10 hours is extent of things here east of I-75 in Bonita Springs. Feel very fortunate for thar dry air from the South that intervened yesterday..
Fortunate is right. From Sunday until yesterday after the tornadoes hit, we had close to 10 inches of rain, mostly from a stalled frontal boundary. If we hadn't been on the dry side when Milton came through a hundred or so miles to the north of us around 2:00 AM, we'd have had a major flooding event on top of all the tornado damage. There were 5 confirmed dead in a golf community about 10 miles from us, and about three miles away, the St Lucie Co sheriff's office sustained major damage. One of my neighbors is an electrician who said he was working across the road from it when it hit the building. He said it was surreal to watch that happen right in front of you. There was also a subdivision about 3 miles to the south of us on the same side of US-1 that was hard hit. All said, we're safe and our power came back on a few minutes ago.
