If Tai can give us 2.8pts 2.8 rebs such as Isaac did for last yr elite 8 team, will we need Tai to average more for us to be successful?

Isaac per 40min 12pts 12reb 2blks

Tai per 40min 8pts 9reb 2blks

We definitely need Wynyard to be a dominate force inside, and I think he will be.

He reminds me a lot of Rick Mahorn. He's a bruising, intimidating, dominate type of talent that we haven't seen in a long time.

My guess is he will average a double double this season.
That is a great thought, hope you are correct

nooo he wont play that much,,,isaac only played wat 8min per game

Look, don't try to compare the two. Tai has all the talent in the world. He just needs the chance to show it. Cal understands this, and the big man will get his chance to shine. Just my opinion.
thats understandable i hope cal gives him minutes

Our team needs the attitude . . .

. . . To devour it's enemies.

My source, and he is a good one, told me Tai is the biggest reason Bamba didn't commit here. Afraid of the competition. The second biggest reason - afraid of leprechauns in trees, and there is rumored to be one in Winburm area. TIFWIW.

You know, it's kind of strange, people always compared Humphries to Harrellson but Tai is much closer as far as ability/playing style goes. That's why I think Tai is a better fit for Cal's system and when he gets the chance, he will show it. He's a physical bruiser, something that fits Cal's style of play better than a finesse big man like Isaac or Wiltjer.

Cal really has not let the kid play, so for that reason, I don't see the kid suddenly in the starting line-up and putting up 10+ppg and 10rpg. If you expect that, might as well forget it. I wouldn't be surprised if the kid starts playing a few minutes every game. The kid is big and strong. I think it is too early to give up on the kid, but if he can't find his way into the rotation next season, the kid is probably in over his head. Lets hope for the best!

Richards and SKJ are sure to often be in foul trouble with those wonderful SEC refs so if he could just come in the game and grab a rebound or 2 and not turn the ball over I would be happy.

Oh lord...Tai has never shown the muscle and moxie of Mahorn...plus Mahorn was a solid interior scorer before his Bad Boys role.

We do need either Wynyard or SKJ to contribute next year, giving 10+ good minutes. I think SKJ is the more likely of the two. Although I also wouldn't be surprised to see us play 10 mpg with 3 forwards (Gabriel & the 3 FR).

I don't think you can really look at Wynyard's per/40 stats from last year, because he mostly played only in the final 2 minutes w/ and against walk-ons.
Many criticize Humphries, but he actually was pretty decent for us the past 2 years. He played meaningful minutes (not just the final 2 of games), and he produced. He is the 2nd best rebounder at UK (behind only Cousins) in Cal's 8 seasons. Offensively he could have been better, but he wasn't bad, if only he had consistently scored like in his final game. His shot blocking was also pretty decent. The only real area of weakness was his fouls, which he did improve, but he still fouled a lot.

Cal seems to be set on how he plays his bench bigs. If he thinks they are not a good fit against certain teams, they don't get the time but if he feels they can prosper, they get their minutes. Like Harrelson, you have to prove to Cal that you want to be on the floor and do the things that he wants from you.
