They think Cal was "mad" when he was quoted saying he'd retire if Diallo was a lottery pick, instead of the actual intention which was that he can't possibly do a player any better than that and might as well hang it up. And it was a joke in the first place.

What a joke of a program. They are on the verge of becoming the next "Indiana".
Not only did we steal Quade and Diallo from their dream recruiting class, but we landed Knox, who they initially went after, AND cost them Jordan Tucker because when we landed Knox, Duke offered Tucker, and the kid was smart enough to go anywhere but Syracuse given the chance.
They had huge hopes for this year being their final big push with Boeheim, and with guys leaving earlier than they thought and Cal taking their key pieces (also Richards from their own backyard), they're pretty upset. Good.

I'd be pretty damn salty too if my once-fabled program had slipped into a coma of mediocrity, if I was still holding onto a coach who has never been elite, and who apparently isn't willing to pay players enough to come there......
Its crazy, to me, that Boeheim has been coaching at Cuse since 1976. Even crazier that he has only been to the FF 5x in that time, with one title. Dudes been coaching there 12 yrs before I was even born. Yet he basically has the same number of FF and titles as Cal has...just at UK.
Then there is the most ignorant statement ever uttered anywhere in the history of mankind from fumb duck named Grbac....., Selfish, lacking passion, looking out for number one. All traits of Cals players.

The strange part is that I never even see them as a contender much less a rival in any capacity.
The only thought I ever had about them was that I hoped that they would beat UL any time they played them. Other than that, I met a couple of 'Cuse idiots that we're trying to tell me how much better they were than UK. That soured me on that orange from then on. They were trashed so I let it go with a few factoids that shut them up quickly. Titles, history...done.
