Super Bowl OT seemed like a UK game

An hour before the game's end I guaranteed everybody I was watching with that Mahomes was Brady 2.0 and would lead them to a touchdown when it was necessary. I wouldn't call myself an NFL expert since that was the first one I've watched in maybe 20 years but a few folks thought I knew what I was talking about at the end. :)

Going into a gun fight with a tooth pick....that game was lost in the 1st Half when 49ers should've been up 3 scores. Purdy gets so many people talking to defend his poor play. He's not good enough and won't be. They have a decision to make if they want to take advantage of this window and Brock Purdy isn't it. He's got a pop gun arm and left plays on the field when it should've been a huge 1st Half lead. This is like having the '12 UK team but Devin Askew as their PG.

Never forget Brady was gifted 2 Super Bowls, one by Shanahan..

The other by Pete Carroll who instead of handing it off for sure game winning TD wanted Russell Wilson to get TD and MVP.
I also remember Brady beating him in Kansas City and in the Super Bowl. So...I mean you can shape crap anyway you want, but the guy won 7 and beat Mahomes 2x to deny him and get 2 more of his own. That matters no matter how many times you want to deny/blame others for their faults (which you aren't wrong regarding the awful play calling)

I don’t believe that at all, Purdy made some great plays in the game and had them have the game won with limited clock time not once but twice. The defense lost this game. He had MVP stats this year. Game managers don’t put up stats like him.

If the game is won by the Qb mainly regardless of supporting cast….sure Purdy is no Mahomes ( but Lamar, Allen, etc aren’t either)..so who is?

But I saw a bigger KC advantage at

1- TE…Kittle I just don’t get he’s elite. 1 catch? Seriously
2. Shanahan vs Reid../not close. Why is he lauded as offensive genius? Two huge 3rd downs in regulation (to win the game) and overtime to score Td….all he csn come up with is slant into blitz that was easy knock down and low percentage throw to back pylon?

Reid draws up motion to get wide open td to win it and hit Rb in flat on sell out blitz

Shanahan is all day shifts and then you have them caught

3. Deebo….i get he’s good after catch and he csn run rhe ball from Wr spot….but is he a bigtime receiver? In first half a deep shot to him and he never high points it snd falls backwards thus far easily broke up by Sneed. Several tough balls on middle routes….he does not come up with

I’d argue Aiuke is better receiver then deebo

I get Purdy is no mahomes….but his cast is way overrated

So proud of my Chiefs... kept me in a good mood these last six weeks. When UK last won a championship, they were going through a 2-14 season. Wish we could sync up and be really good at the same time. And, who could not like Kelce?

I really don’t like his big mouth and all of the Taylor Swift crap. Sometimes I wonder if the NFL isn’t scripted like WWE. To add to my dislike for Kelce was his bonehead move almost knocking his old coach down and getting in his face yelling.

He's a winner. Wish we had more players with that passion on UK. Kelce used to get unsportsman-like conduct penalties on him early in his career. He has learned to channel his energy. Andy knows his players, and you know he loves having him on his team.

He’s a good player, but he’s only a winner due to playing with Mahommes. A TE is only as good as his QB allows him to be in the NFL. Far more of a right place at the right time kind of thing. A different QB or different scheme and no one would know his name. We’d know about Mahommes no matter what.

I actually don’t mind the Chiefs, even as a Bengals fan. Think they have a lot of good dudes for the most part and I like the coach. Kelce on the other hand is a woke b!tch that loves himself far too much. There isn’t a damn thing he could have done to stop that fumble, but knocks his coach over like he’s some savior.

He’s being theatrical to get the attention he so desperately craves. Classic narcissist…

Also his “relationship” with Swift will end up in a song. Read about the classic path relationships take when one is a narcissist. It will be interesting to see what goes public as things unravel.

How could we not like the face of booster shots and all the Taylor swift crap?

Only an idiot bet on the Niners last night, easy money

A "good" player? I guess Jerry Rice was only "good" based upon your criteria. Have to disagree with 97% of your post. Kelce is a great guy. I work personally with his foundation here in KC. Does a lot for underprivileged youth, and he shows up to work with them, not just throwing money at it. If that makes him woke, whatever that word is supposed to mean, I guess he would own it. And... Mahomes is spelled like this.

Comparing Kelce to Rice? You’re finished right there. Also if you pretend to not know what woke means, then you are woke. Explains your love affair with Phizer boy. As far spelling MAHOMES, who cares?…

Most bad ideas go aways over time. This one just gathers steam.
They should call it the Marvin Lewis defense...get picked apart all the way down the field and leave no time to answer...

I wish my relationships would end up in a song (lord knows I deserve it). Written several songs about old flames (and current wife). Nothing wrong with life leading to art.

Also, when did you earn your degree in relationship counseling? They appear happy, so let it go. If you don't want to watch, just change the channel.

Not relationship counseling, personal dealings with a narcissist in the family. Unfortunately there is no level of counseling to fix that.

Last comment... you are just a mean person. Name calling and what appears to be a lack of civility. I hope you treat people better in person. I wish you were not a fellow Cat fan, but I guess we take the bad with the good.

Calling you woke is mean? Seriously? You must have a very low opinion of yourself. Most woke people are very very proud of that fact.

Also, you are supporting and defending a player who nearly assaulted his old coach on national TV, saying what a great guy he is. Yet you have a problem with me saying woke or phizer boy? Seems like your priorities are very messed up.

SF should have kicked to start OT. Dumbest decision ever.

I've gone back and forth on that one. In retrospect, it was a bad decision but assuming they hold KC to a FG, don't they receive the kickoff with a chance to win the game? Or do they flip the coin again?

The reasoning that made the most sense (to me) was that by taking the ball first, you hand deliver Mahommes a 4 down situation to get down the field whereas if you defer they would have punted on 4th down unless they were in FG position and the chances of stopping Mahommes from at least getting into FG position is practically zero in a 4 down scenario. Shannahan didn’t lose this game, though. His special teams missing a XP and letting a punt bounce off them, handing KC a token TD lost the game. Great game!!

I remember thinking that as soon SF only scored a FG in regulation . I knew wether they sent it to OT. Or won result was same. Just like that sinking feeling when there's 5 min left an game is close an Cal starts "coaching".

The 49ers defense absolutely didn't lose them that game. The Chiefs coaching staff was a little better than the Niners coach staff at the end of the night. Chris Jones should have been MVP because he got 3 pressures that would have resulted in touchdowns if he didn't.

The last five minutes of a game with a small lead is when Cal's sphincter really tightens up, he looks like a squirrel trying to burying a nut...

Dak Prescott was up for the MVP this year. Some years aren't like others. Dak Prescott is hot trash when a game matters. But he had MVP numbers because he plays in the JV Conference of the NFL right now.

There are several plays he leaves on the field because he's too small and can't see the field and they often eliminate the middle of the field. Those pop gun floaters to the sidelines are awful. He has great running game with McCaffery to help him. Their offensive skill talent is good enough in the NFC but agree with other poster who thinks it's a bit overrated--especially the perpetually injured/"nicked up" Deebo but Ayiuk is a top tier WR and Jennings always plays well when I watch Niners games. I don't think they use Kittle enough but again, he's at his best over the middle and a lot of times Purdy can't see/flushes the pocket. I don't like short QB's in NFL though so I'm biased against Wilson, Murray, Young, etc. for same reason and at least the Niners haven't gone all in and paid him yet.

Seeing him against Browns, Bengals, Ravens, and Chiefs.....was the guy I think he truly is rather than the big numbers against the JV Conference which the NFC is right now. If I were the 49ers, I'd go after Cousins who was going to be in discussion for the MVP this year if he didn't get injured based on what he was doing without Jefferson and any 49ers fan will tell you he was best player on the field in their win over SF without Jefferson and Flores defense made Purdy look like the guy I believe he is. He's got experience with Shanahan and can make the throws that need to be made to beat the top tier AFC teams with that cast around him. But doesn't matter what a fan who types on a board thinks--just what they do. If he continues to get them to SB and finally gets a title against the AFC, everyone can throw it in my face and I'll eat crow and admit I was wrong. That's all this is--opinions on people who control the outcomes.

Purdy's much more than a game manager. He goes through his progressions quickly and processes well and that's very, very hard to find. Chris Jones wrecked the game and was a big reason why Purdy missed some key throws. Jones was all over him. He's too short and has alot of passes tipped. That's my biggest knock on him. But I hope they go all in on him because I like seeing the 9ers fail and think he'll always be good but not great.

Chiefs +2 was an easy money game
Even better was straight up money line, KC at +110, there had only been one SB in history where final margin was less than 3, so I thought the spread was irrelevant.

I also had under 47, which seemed like a mortal lock for the longest time. Then, when it went to OT, I realized I could easily lose both ways. As it was, my O/U pushed, and I cashed on KC, so was a happy ending for me.
