Took the time to listen in to several local shows this morning, but to me the guys on 630 (Anthony White and crew) put it into good perspective.
They laid it out like this. Was last night a stinging defeat? Yes. Was it a season unraveling defeat? It doesn’t have to be. Uk is staring down plenty of opportunities to rewrite the narrative.
BUTTTTT - Uk fans have to expect more. They can’t allow themselves to compare today’s uk football program with what it used to be when Stoops arrived. They can’t continue to compare it to the dark ages of uk football. They can’t go back to being satisfied with going 6-6 or 7-5 every year. The bar has been raised. So much so that Barnhart removed the “automatic extension” part of Stoops’ contract for getting to 7 wins.
Things have changed. Uk is now paying their coaching staff more than 70% of the sec programs they’re competing against. They’ve given Mark virtually every brick and mortar investment he’s asked for.
Fans must continue to raise their expectations with on the field result and recruiting based on how much uk is investing into this program.
