Might just be me, but CMS seemed irritated as hell and dodged the injury questions even more than usual. Says we improved in the pass game, but his tone and facial cues suggest something is off. Maybe it's just me, but Stoops doesn't seem like a happy camper this week.

Thanks JP Fisher.
Np. Any idea what sort of fuster cluck happened Tuesday? CMS is usually tight-lipped about injuries and practice issues, but this is giving off major "I'm not mad at my team – just disappointed" vibes.

Yeah, seems pretty reserved and low key which is hard to read sometimes. As Rembrandt said, could just be his game face and trying to keep himself and his team from getting hyped up too soon.

Coach Stoops always knows what he wants. I like that about him, as it is an essential quality for a successful football coach at this level of competition. Every year, there are a handful of practices where Stoops feels the team is not practicing with sufficient focus and intensity. After the big victory over FL, they weren't focused and I am not surprised. Big effort, big win, followed by exhaustion and mental letdown. It happens in that kind of situation. Stoops jumped all over it, because he knows successful teams have to understand the right way to win and be successful.

Stoops is being coy about availability of TRob, BB, and the Horseman because he doesn't want Kirby to know. Complicates Kirby's game-planning. And I'm sure Coach Coen has held some stuff back for this week. If the Horseman is out, Dylan Ray will continue to play. Ray has improved every week and was brilliant against FL. Ray is also somewhat bigger and bulkier than the Horseman. If BB is out (which I am inclined to doubt but who knows?), I think we would get a combination of DSK, Izayah Cummings, and Dekel Crowdus at that z receiver position. If TRob is out, that's Anthony Brown-Stephens' opportunity at the y receiver but Crowdus would probably also get some snaps there.

This game is probably going to boil down to turnovers and the performances of the two defenses. UK has two starters from the state of GA - D'Eryk Jackson and Trevin Wallace. Both are fantastic players and we need monster games from both. GA is their state, and Kirby didn't recruit them, so they should be highly motivated. The reason UK might actually win this game is because we have Keeshawn Silver and Deone Walker upfront at the point of attack. Nobody is going to move those two big guys consistently, although Kirby will try. At the end of the day, an opponent must game-plan for what happens if they can't beat Silver and Walker consistently in the interior, which means our nickel Afari and our LBs Weaver, Jackson, and Wallace will get free runs to make plays. Everyone will have to play well, but this game is winnable. And BTW, so far it looks like our STs are a little better than GA's.

I wonder if his tone this week could be a diversion trying to make Georgia think things haven’t gone well. We can only hope.
Or that he knows how absolutely huge this week is for the program and his legacy as a whole and he’s laser focused and making sure his team is the same. This weeks game is a defining moment for the program if we manage to pull off the upset.

Lived in Athens for 20 years. I am telling you that despite whatever is said, Georgia isn’t not at least concerned about UK period. They are looking forward to
A blow out. I haven’t checked… we are usually Homecoming.
Believe if you want to that they are concerned! THEY ARE NOT. I have read how classy Georgia fans are. See how classy they are if UK wins.

This X 1,000!!!

This is Coach Stoops BEST CHANCE to beat UGA since he arrived!!! He knows it, his players NEED to know it!!

Coach Stoops wants his players to REALIZE the opportunity that is before them because they don't come along often. This is the ONLY team in the SEC East that he hasn't beaten and he KNOWS that he FINALLY has the talent to WIN this time!!

He wants his team to AS JACKED UP as he is for this one!!! That's why he has an OBVIOUS edge AND chip on his shoulder for this game!!

Yes. Game face.

Their fans are not concerned yet. Their coaching staff is. Doesn't matter where you lived. Kirby can see what's on the film, and he also knows we played them tougher than anyone else did in 2022. If Kirby wasn't concerned, he would be incompetent. Kirby is not incompetent. He knows.

Makes sense to give the halftime dress-down speech mid-week before the game instead of at halftime when they're down two scores. Smart coaching.

We played them tougher than UGA-missouri and UGA-OSU n 2022?

Those gamed were one score finals and it took UGA a miracle to beat osu. Georgia was up 16 to 0 after 3 quarters in the uk game and uk made it midly interesting by cutting it to 10 bit then failed to make it closer.

Kirby regularly comments on how physical and grinding we are as a team. We made some bone headed mistakes in 2022, but we certainly played them "tougher" than most teams they lined up against. While the final score doesn't indicate that it was a hard game, I'd take Kirby's words on it over that any day.

Seems like he gets asked the same questions over and over. A lot of cliche questions. I am sure it felt like a waste of his time. Also, he made a point that Kirby does not give injuries updates. So, I think this is just goose and gander stuff.

Not worth its own thread, so tossing it here. Two Kentucky players in this week's SDS SEC top 10. Hairston at 10 and Davis at 4. Brock Bowers at the 1 spot.

The most influential player on our team is not on the list.

What's your point? My point was that Kirby knows this will be a tough game that is not a guaranteed win for the Bulldogs, despite being in Athens. That's all I was saying.

Stoops slipped up early on in the presser by saying we are getting some guys healthy.
Who else could that mean besides Horsey, Brown and Robinson?
Then he was non-commital about anything injury wise until he said unless Kirby wants to tell me about his injured players.
Trust me, if you read between the lines they all 3 are going to start.

It could mean anyone who was previously dinged up. There is no injured list. Our coaches don't generally announce who is dinged up. We know when a player comes up gimpy during a game or a player misses a game, because we can see that. FWIW I never expected Barion Brown to miss this game, although I get it why Stoops doesn't want to say it. The Horseman's return is a bigger uncertainty. But I think we have a realistic chance to win this game regardless, as long as we don't turn the ball over.
