Coach has his family and hometown friends in Lex this weekend. He also returns to UK after beating the Gators as the winningest coach in UK history!

Let’s greet him at the beginning of the game with a full stadium chant of his name!

Let’s let coach know that we love him as the leader of our football school!!!

This^^^^^

If the University and the fans don't do something special for CMS this Saturday to recognize his accomplishments at UK in front of his friends and family, then shame on us.

Stadium needs to be full of fans and there needs to be a recognition of CMS becoming UK'S all time winningest coach in FB.

And there will be….Maybe Mitch will give him an afterlife contract to feed Stoops seed for decades to come!

OP, I think this is a great idea. I don’t know how to pull it off, but I believe it would be glorious to chant Stoops’ name at the game on Saturday.

I believe the tide is turning a bit amongst fans in that football is what truly brings us together. EVERYONE likes Stoops. Football nationally is what really moves the needle. Having a football contender combined with our passionate fans is something that no other schools can match or compete with. Not even Bama. I mean that. Think of the passion our fans had for basketball for years, and now consider that passion being poured into football. That’s what’s happening right now. It’s truly amazing

Im 56 yrs old next month and Ive been waiting for a potential season like this since I was 14-15 yrs old! Thats 40 plus years!!!

Build the Statue now!
Shouldn't we wait until he actually wins something of relevance? I get he has improved the program by a lot, but the man has been here 10 years and we still haven't even made an SEC title game yet. Let alone an NY6 or playoff. Putting up statutes just because he took us from bottom feeder to middle of the pack is a little bush league.

Does The Slickster have a statue somewhere on campus?

Seriously asking. Not trying to troll ya

thanks

How is that Bush League?

although I do say that we need to wait until he is gone

he is the #1
He is number 1 because he has been here the longest. Bryant accomplished his wins in 8 seasons. So that stat is pretty meaningless. We are barely above .500 under Stoops and have a .400 conference record under him. I do expect both to improve the longer he stays, but what about that is deserving of a statue? Hell, his biggest win to date is against a decent Iowa team who was sitting out half their players. Again, why would that be worthy of a statue? Volleyball, Track and Field, Rifle, Basketball, and Cheerleading have all won or contended for titles in that same time frame. I wouldn't give their coaches statues either. I would not give Kyra Elzy one for winning the SEC championship either. It's very bush league. Call me when they win multiple championships and are considered among the all-time greats in their respective sports. Then we can talk about statues.

Multiple reasons Stoops deserves one:
A. Most wins ever at UK and he is still a fairly young man, he could shatter Bear’s record.
B. When he took over, UK, thanks to the Joker, was literally at rock bottom.
C. All the different heinous streaks Stoops’ teams have put to bed.
D. The SEC has been the toughest conference by far in America during the 10 yrs. Stoops has been at UK.

He has the most wins simply because he has been here the longest. Bryant accomplished essentially the same in 8 years.

We had been to a bowl game 2 seasons before Stoops took over and ended the TN losing streak just 1 year before he took over. While Joker's last year was awful, we weren't exactly "rock bottom".

Losing to UF? What other steaks has he ended?

I agree, but you don't get a statue just because you coached in a tough conference and had a .400 record.

In order to get a statute, he needs to win something of relevance like the EAST, SEC Champ, or get us to a playoff.
Otherwise, we are essentially giving him a statute for sucking the least since Bryant.

UK not winning more than 4 SEC games in a season had stood since 1977 when Stoops and UK won 5 SEC games in 2018. UK hadn't defeated the Gators in back to back seasons in 45 yrs (circa 1976-77) until last Sat.!
UK had not won in Knoxville since 1984 before Stoops and UK beat the Vols in Knoxville in 2020. UK had never won 4 consecutive bowls much less year after year until Stoops and UK did it last season. UK hasn't been in the AP top 5 since 1964 ! Look for that streak to fall to Stoops/UK in about another month. LFG!!! Build the F’in Statue!
PS There is absolutely, positively nothing simple or “simply” as you put it, about Mark Stoops setting the all time wins record in football at UK. I don't call him Streak Buster Stoops for nothing. Any more detractors out there? Smoke them if you have him! [smoke]

Looks like you are going to be a sunshine poster. Before Stoops got here we went to Arkansas and had a weather delay and the team quit. They said they were hungry. That is like rock bottom for a team to quit. Before stoops it had been years since we won a SEC road game. UK FB has come a LONG way from quitting games. Hope he never leaves!!

So much wrong with this spin. Joker truly left the cupboard bare of P5 talent. Mark has won 10 games twice in the past 4 seasons, both ending with NY day bowl victories over B1G teams. Bear was awesome, but college football is much bigger today with so many better HCs and programs. Think about when Bear was at UK and consider how many coaches have been here since. Stoops is a legend. No trolling can take that away. And, he is not done.

At least lower teams don’t say “THEY SPOSE TO BE SEC”. I think those days are over for some time!!

Fill up the stadium. There is no excuse not to. Lexington is large enough to do it but with thousands of fans coming from around the state it should be easy. Show college football UK has arrived and fans support this program.

Just Do IT

Make the drive every home game from Southern Indiana. Will be there cheering loudly like always. There is no reason this should not be a sellout with the stands packed. Perfect weather and a noon start.

As for the statue, I'm sure they will wait till Stoops retires. But, I think it needs to be built and in place before the start of next season right outside the entrance under the scoreboard on the Nicholasville Road side of the stadium.

He is number one because he’s turned this program into a winner. Stoops took over a dumpster fire that had less than Sun Belt talent.

In the last 7 years he is 49-29 winning 63% of his games. 2018- present he is 35-17 winning 67% of his games. Kinda see a trend here. Plus he has won 4 straight bowl games with 2 being the Citrus Bowl.

What he has built here is a program that’s built to last. No gimmicks. Built it from the inside out on both sides of the football.

And from the ground up I might add.
This is a big reason why I think Stoops stays as this program is his baby. He wants to win the SEC East, he wants to win the SEC and he wants to win the National title while at UK with a team that was 2-10 the season before Stoops took over.

That's setting the bar too high, though doing it now might be setting it too low. If he wins so much as a single SEC title, he deserves a statue while still on the sideline. Get us to a couple of NY6 bowls and Atlanta a couple more, and even without a title, he'll deserve a statue at retirement, particularly if his entire HC career is in Lexington. 🤞

You should consider changing your screen name to Buzz Killington

You guys have some very low standards if you support building a statue because Stoops broke some meaningless and random "streaks" and beat a couple of okay big10 teams in average bowl games. Or because he is the longest serving and thus winningest coach at a school not known for winning. We will be a laughing stock. Win something of notoriety, then we can start a more serious conversation about it.

Cal has a National championship, 4 final fours and several SEC championships. He would have to at least win a 2nd NC before I would even consider a statue for him either. That is reserved for the best of the best.

And who is your team?

If you think the Iowa win was our biggest win under Stoops, or that their one player who missed the game equals “half” their team, when we had twelve players who could not play,

. . . . and if you do not know who “the slickster” is, you must not follow UK sports closely.

Penn State was higher ranked than Iowa, and our final ranking was higher after beating them than beating Iowa.

I for one could give two squeezes for what Cal's done. Cal will build a statue to himself someday.

Big deal, every coach since Rupp that wasn't an alcoholic has won a natty. Let me know when Calipari is doing something thats never been done before at UK. Cause that's what Stoops is doing right now.
