Stoops Salary

Everyone knows that Stoops makes $9m per year which is absurd, but…

I would still want him gone if he made $4-5 million.

Realistically what would MB have to offer Stoops to walk away? Is Stoops in it for the money only or does his pride really want him to right the ship?

From the way stoops is signaling he wants the full buyout. My opinion is that if he wants to play hardball UK should lawyer up and force him to a settlement. Two seasons salary is the absolute most he deserves, imo

UK has 0 leverage. Good luck with voiding that contract and it holding up n court.

His buyout is $44 million, so that’s what MB would have to offer. From Stoops comments, he’s hunkered down.

Stoops certainly made it known he’s not going anywhere without his $44 million.

My guess is Barnhart is waiting this out for the next week or so hoping we let up on it. I’m not! Stoops’s seat isn’t hot, it’s on fire right now. That POS is getting grilled not only just by UK fans but by other fans and media across the country.

If this keeps up over the next week or so, I still say Barnhart will be forced to do something. This cannot continue.

I have no problem with the 9 mil. If anything that number proves that Kentucky is serious about football and will make the program more attractive to perspective coaches when the time comes. Everyone wants the next saban and the next saban will be looking for a fat salary.

My issue is with the absurd internal buyout that essentially makes stoops fire-proof. Mitch gave up all leverage with that clause whereas the salary alone should have been his leverage. If he was so worried about stoops flying the coop then he should have set up a heavy buyout that would have protected Kentucky from other programs who want to poach our coach. But that buyout is meager. I have no idea what Mitch was thinking with that. Same with Cal. I suppose both of those guys have excellent agents who really pushed for it and Mitch rolled over

That's partially true, other fanbases know his seat is hot but not grilling anyone over it. I can tell you for a fact if he leaves UK he is still a respected defensive coach and can get a defensive job if he is looking for one if UK and him go their separate ways.

I agree with the premise here. It shouldn't matter to any or at least most of us what his salary number is. If someone is the head coach here, it will be a lot of money regardless. We aren't paying the salary.

This is my wonder as well. I’m thinking 11 players were found to receiving impermissible benefits.

Barney is the one who needs to walk away. When he finds a decent coach he ruins them by giving them generational deals where they can sit back and if they are lucky get fired and buy a small Caribbean island.

If Stoops stays and lay another egg next year I do believe he will be the most hated sports figure in the Commonwealth, possibly in history. If he wants to protect his legacy or work when he leaves here then he should walk away now.

Agreed, leave now and he gets a statue for sure. Hang around a couple of years and stink it up, tarnished legacy for years.
