How about a reality check. Kentucky Wildcat football has NEVER reached this level of success,,,, EVER!!! No matter we have yet to contend for Atlanta, But his is the first time ever we have been in the conversation.
As the northernmost school in the SEC, with "B" grade facilities, conservative Athletic Director, non- affluent fan base, haunting legacy of being a loser, haunting legacy of being a Basketball school, STOOP"S and company have put UK Football in the conversation. We are putting players in the league, making appearances in the top 25 and going to bowl games. It hasn't been fast or flashy, but the reality is, we are a better football school than we have ever been because of Stoops and Company and I APPRECIATE THIS COACHING STAFF!!!

I can GUARANTEE you Coach Stoops and his staff are NOT satisfied with where this program is after yesterday's performance.

I can also GUARANTEE you that Coach Stoops KNOWS we need a stronger offense, better discipline, reliable Special teams play and more FOCUS from his players.

So, since you are a Gold member here, ask Roland to ask Coach Stoops if he EXPECTS MORE from EVERYONE in his program???Also, if he thrives to win and SEC East title and WANTS the fans to expect it too?

Which year are we cutting and pasting this from? Unless I'm forgetting something, it seems we have the same complaints every year-lack of discipline, more focus and fewer mistakes from the players, a more creative and less conservative offense, and a defense that won't give up big plays at crunch time.

CMS has done a very good job. He’s a defensive coach and it shows. Has to improve his offensive approach.

I’m sure Coach Stoops wants to do better. However, when you are so bad in so many areas of the game it starts at the top. This isn’t a coordinator not doing his job. Penalities, poor ST play, can’t pass block, defense was horrid etc etc etc. This season is of his doing.
1. No QB depth and has never developed one since he has been here. We are in deep shit next year.
2. How many OC coordinators have we had? There are several layers to that problem- players have no continuity year to year, style of play (Stoops is consevative, gameplan will never be aggressive offensively), recruiting suffers. Hard cycle to get out of.
3. Special teams- not sure I have ever seen ST at UK this horrid. Hire a damn special teams coach.
4. OL- Coach Schlarman was better than we all realized. Yenser looks to be shitting the bed.
5. Transfer Portal- we dont shore up #1 (what QB would want to come here in a transfer after this year). We are likely to lose some offensive weapons plus what we lose to graduation.
7. NIL- its an issue going foward but not causing this years issues. I know Stoops wants it fixed and I agree. However, the average fan isnt going to fix our problems with it. Hopefully, Stoops/Barnhardt has some plan for this other than griping about it on the radio.

I was in a debate with a friend yesterday as to which coach we could A) get to replace Stoops and B) would stay if they have success. Those are great questions, but I’m not sure he or many are seeing the opportunity that the playoff expansion gives Kentucky or the position it puts Kentucky in to land a good Coach after Stoops. You got 10-2 in the SEC and you’re squarely in a 12-team playoff. That’s a hell-of-an opportunity. Great coaches are awaiting their chance!

Oh, I agree wholeheartedly!!!

But for the OP to try and lecture all of us on how we should LOWER our expectations because of our putrid past, I was just pointing out that even Coach Stoops himself isn't SATISFIED with just competing anymore and he shouldn't in year 10.

Now the onus is on HIM to fix those things once and for all to take that next step we all want.

Will be more difficult as the SEC East keeps improving.
In reality we aren’t going to look for 10-2. We are looking for 9-3 and 8-4. The East is improving but we haven’t been consistently beating the Floridas and Tennessee’s anyway. Drop a game we shouldn’t and 7 is on the table, which isn’t awful by some standards.

We have the 3 cupcakes and Louisville. Spilt the SEC by beating the other also rans and we are doing well by our historical standard.

Is what it is. I hate it but yesterday made it seem real. We have turned a corner but won’t won’t ever turn the actual corner and matter.

Seems like the 2 divisions is going away anyway so brings in probability of more west opponents. And likely a 9th conference game. Our non conference has been on the softer side for sec teams

I appreciate everything he's done, but he's not getting us to the mountaintop.
I don't know about yall but going into the Ole Miss game I was seeing that mountain top!
I could see that son of a bi*ch!!!! The first time ever in my entire lifetime as a Kentucky football fan I could see the mountain top.

It was right freaking there man. We shouldn't be down because we've lost a few games. It's hard building this shit man.
Tennessee's and LSU's they've always been good. Always had a good program for 50 years.
You got to take your lumps and you got to get lucky.

Stoops got us a glimpse at the mountaintop and if you don't see that then you're blind💯👁️‍🗨️👁️‍🗨️

In a couple years the playoffs will be 12 teams. We're damn close. Stoops can get us into the playoffs in a couple years man. We need to shut up

Paragraph 2...what would be a stronger offense to CMS? He has repeatedly said he wants a ball control offense with low scoring . That puts everything at a premium and demand for execution.

Are there better coaches out there? Yes. Can UK get any of those? No.

The other aspect of losing stoops is you lose marrow and the entire early identification recruiting infrastructure they have in place.

So not only would it need to be someone with championship caliber ability but also championship caliber recruiting connections in place and ready to go.

That my friends is a very tiny list and all of them would expect a much better job than UK.

Twice in recent years, stoops had us playing Georgia for the east. Other that one of the elite candidates that won't come here anyway, we can't do better. It's just a fact

Defense plays great in spurts but very inconsistent and can’t carry the entire team and makes some dumb mistakes. Offense is awful with all the weapons KY has they are major underachievers. Special Teams outside Brown are embarrassing. This team has quit on this coaching staff.

You mean there's not a better coach out there besides Stoops that wouldn't come here gor 6-7 million UK is paying Stoops? Really?

We can get someone that will win 6 games. But we won't get someone who will win 10 games twice in a few years while also having us play for the east.

At least not anyone we can hire.

How do you know that? When has UK ever played for the East under Stoops? Don't remember thst game.

2018 Georgia came to Lexington. Last year we went to Georgia. Both times all we had to do was win and we controlled our own destiny.

Georgia unfortunately is just on another level right now. No shame in not beating them because noone else can either.

We beat UF 3 of the last 4? Owned SC and they were bound to eventually win. Owned Mizzou. Owned vandy up till the awful loss.

Yes there needs to be some serious self evaluation and there needs to be some staff changes. But let's not act like this is all old hat and stoops hasn't put us in much better position than we ever thought possible

I have said that and I agree. However, ST are still a disaster. Offense is just awful.

If he gets credit, he gets blame too. He will not change his offensive philosophy. Once in 10 years. That's a set pattern.

He's not gonna change. Went through at least 5-6 OCs. Same thing. It's him. He doesn't have the players to play that way.

So, you can either keep doing the same thing and be fine with that. If that's the case. Then don't expect more and let's stop caring about a loss here or there. This is Kentucky football. We aspire for almost. Is thst it? Let's not expect too much?

We changed offenses 3 times in one year.

I definitely agree we need to pick up the pace. We don't get enough snaps to spread the ball around to keep people satisfied. That should absolutely change

Disagree. Stoops is so plain and drab and shows no in game coaching skills. Guarantee you we could get 5-7 guys who could do better than Stoops. We are probably stuck with him for another year but if he stays he sure better get a new OC and O line coach and change his philosophy.

I agree, but he's loyal to a fault. I don't want him to leave, but I want him to hire a good offensive mind and keep out of the offense. They play way too conservative and there's no way anyone can convince me that has nothing to do with Stoops. He need to worry about defense, special teams and leave the offense alone and if that doesn't happen, nothing will change, regardless who the offensive coordinator is.
