I've seen and heard several comments about how Stoops obviously doesn't want to be here if he was willing to take the A&M job. And therefore, we should move on to someone who does want to be here. I've never really understood this line of thinking. Is the idea that we don't want a coach unless he wouldn't leave for a top 10 gig? And if he would leave for it, that indicates he doesn't really want to be here?
If that's the requirement, I think you're always going to be VERY limited in who you can bring in. Maybe it would be true for Joker, Neal Brown, and Jon Sumrall. But even in those cases, are we sure they wouldn't consider an offer from Alabama if it came? And are we saying we'd fault them if they did consider it? I just don't see it like that.
This isn't like a marriage. A coach being willing to entertain really attractive offers doesn't mean he doesn't want to be where he is.
