Still pi$$es me off that our OCs

While I don't disagree with you, in principle, Stoops was in a tough spot. Fans were clamoring for a more exciting offense and it seemed we had peaked because we just couldn't win against the upper echelon with great d and punishing run (Iowa 2.0). He chose to take a chance on program growth and it failed. So be it. Good try, now let's pivot again and right the ship. I don't think we crush people for aiming higher and failing. It's worse to never strive for greatness, no?

wasted the RB and OL blocking talent we had the past 2 years. Run the ball and we win a bunch more games. Lose your ID... you're not getting into the party.

Run the freakin ball

Bush had some crazy RB rotations last year. He would never stick to the hot runner.

We definitely seemed to be very haphazard last year as far as offensive gameplanning and play calling. Didn't seem like Bush ever really got a feel for any one particular game and would just seemingly pull plays out of a hat. Only in very rare stretches did we 'establish' much of anything only to abandon it once we picked up a couple of first downs or the next series. I found myself scratching my head trying desperately to understand the 'logic' behind what we called and never could get a bead on it.

The OL has to (and, I think, should) be better this year. QB play has to be better and, again, I think it will be (couldn't get worse, could it?). But, Hamdan also MUST be better. No more telegraphing plays, especially in short yardage situations, no more personnel groups that only run one play, no more jet sweeps in weird situations, etc. He's got to get a feel for the defense early and then exploit matchups until the D adjusts. And then make adjustments from there. Rarely did we see a better scheme coming out for the second half. Our opponents would make adjustments and we'd continue to do the same things over and over with decreasing results. That can't happen this year or Bush needs to pack up and be gone, imo.

Yeah I said the same thing last year. I was really big on Bush coming in and looked forward to his ability to mix up the run and pass and use the QB legs to break down defenses too. But he never seemed to get in rythm and was off kilter all year with some odd and disapointing play calling. He has to improve on that and I think he will and may have been a little thrown off himself with the Oline and QB problems.

He was but thats the nature of our fanbase. The loudest always want a version of the air raid, but we were winning with physical football. You know things are good with uk football when fans are complaining about how we won.

Maybe the failed passing focused attack will be enough to silence them for another decade.

I hope you are right because I don't care how we win, just that we do. I grew up an FSU fan because that's where my dad played, so was used to exceptional football and I couldn't understand everyone blowing Mumme. Too me, that era was not one to be exalted, but should be remembered as a missed opportunity. He had the fanbase ready to explode and couldn't give a moment of attention to defense, so 6-6 remained a dream season.

I think Coen was auditioning for the NFL in ‘23 and Hamdan was trying to keep some receivers happy last year. I definitely think our strength and best option was running the ball. I have no problem throwing the ball but Hamdan could have helped our line last year by throwing some quick hitters to give our athletes the ball in space rather than running posts that took forever to develop.

your first sentence says it all

We didn't have the line that could get you to the end zone. We had a line that could be effective getting it to the 20. So when we would get 40 yards in range we would start taking shots to try to get scores or down close. We just largely haven't been capable of explosive plays under stoops
Line play has to improve for Kentucky to get better. Some of the weird play calling was an attempt to work around bad line play.
