Had some time to kill today. So, here's some stats to ponder.

We've scored 100 points in four games so far this season.
In the past 50 seasons, UK has scored 100 points in a game 113 times.
The most 100-point games in these 50 seasons is nine, which, of course, happened in '96.
We scored 100 points eight times in '75 and '90.
We scored 100 points six times in '78, '92, '93 and '24.
We scored 100 points five times in '77, '94 and '17.
That means that only 10 times in the past 50 seasons has a team scored 100 points more times than we have so far this season.

We need to score 100 points five more times to tie the '96 squad. If we reach 100 just two more times, there will only be three teams to have done it more -- '75, '90 and '96.

Lastly: Scoring 100 points several times in a season has usually been indicative of a successful season. The exceptions: 1990 was a strategy to remain competitive in Pitino's first season. And then there was...last year.

And last year is misleading bc we didn’t continue to play that style. Cal went back to his comfort zone when things tightened up down the stretch under the guise of “need to play defensive lineups and slow pace in March”. He started tinkering with 2 7 footers together plus Edwards and usually Wagner with only 1 shooter and occasionally 2 but not the majority of the time. Over emphasis on size and forcing drives

Last year has a different result if we just play Dilly, Reeves, Shep together for 20+ min a game with Wagner and Edwards off the bench while making sure 2 of the 3 skilled guards were in the floor at all time.

Go back to Rupp's last few years and they scored 100 more than any since.

One of the great "What ifs" of my life as a UK fan.

Yeah, I stopped at 50 years, which was right about when Rupp “retired.”

These are Rupp’s last 10 seasons followed by the number of times the team scored 100 points:
63 - 1
64 - 10
65 - 7
66 - 7
67 - 7
68 - 7
69 - 10
70 - 13
71 - 15 (they scored 100 points in 15 out the 28 games they played),
72 - 3

Crazy, right?

Would have loved to see how many times the 96 team would have scored 100 in the 30 second shot clock era. Also a kicked ball or a personal foul always reset the shot clock back to 35 back in the day. Never calculated extra possessions in a 40 minute game but I’d say it’s definitely a few.

Are you saying of the 113 100 point games Rupp had 80 of them in his last ten years? How many did he have over all?

The first time UK scored 100 or more points in a regulation game was in the 1950-51 season in a game against LSU. Below are the number of times they've scored that many points in a game since then.

Rupp’s teams scored 100+ 103 times and 80 times in his last 10 seasons, and never had a shot clock or a 3 point line.

The fact that we're almost halfway to the '96 UK team's accumulation of 100 point games is pretty remarkable.

That '96 team would beat this UK team by 15-20 points, but it's still kind of a cool stat to aim for.
I don't know are we sure about that in regards to the 96 team beating this one?
I've been told by HH repeatedly on here that the latest team each year is always the greatest.
Last year was going to go 40-0 and be the greatest shooting team ever. But those stupid "Beer Muscles" got in the way.
