I don't have a way to confirm it and it is water over the dam now anyway. If Goodwin is smart, and if he is given the chance, he needs to come back to UK and work hard during the offseason. There is still an opportunity here for him, but he has to swallow his pride and listen to our coaches.

This is exactly right. It actually appears that may happen but like you said he has some hoops to jump thru to make that happen

I agree with you
I wonder how many people are in his ear ?

Every significant college football and basketball player has people in his ear.

Goodwin came to campus heavy. He had probably been instructed to guard against that by following aerobic exercise guidelines in the offseason. But he came in heavy anyway. Subsequently, I have not seen anyone criticize his work ethic during the fall semester. In fact, Stoops complimented him at least once. But once you fall behind, it takes time and discipline to catch up. The SEC is the most competitive college football conference.

Goodwin still has plenty of time. Is he coachable? Does he have the self discipline and team mentality to get it done? IDK, but entering the portal suggests he may not. The path he is on is a path toward wasting his opportunity. But he can still reverse course. Marques Cox will be a senior. Coen is going to need a new LT in 2024. That would give Goodwin plenty of time, if he could win back the confidence of the coaches. IDK how Goodwin and Yenser get along though.

I hope he comes back but we shall see

Is there a certain date you have to pull your name from the portal if you change your mind ?
No
I would love to have another commitment or two before things go silent for 2 days
Davis should commit tonight. Wilcox and Gadson probably will be Wednesday. Leary will hopefully commit in the next couple days also.

Gadson is a 'tweener' in basketball terms. He has strong hands and pursues well. Some projections say he will need to bulk up to play inside eventually. Will take him time to get bigger and stronger so would probably be at least a couple of years, maybe three, to get where he needs physically.

Jaques Keyes committed to Wake Forest as UK had backed off Also seen wiltfong predicted Jamarion Harkless to Purdue. That was been a strange recruitment.

Yes, Wiltfong's predictions are seldom wrong. But the most compelling thing was that four CB picks appeared online for UK almost simultaneously. In addition to Wiltfong's CB pick for UK, three other new CB picks for UK are from FL St insiders. Gadson is currently committed to FL St. One CB pick can be wrong, but four on the same morning are compelling. I am now convinced that Gadson will sign with UK. If so, good pickup for us.

Player rankings aside, Gadson has been playing against good hs competition in GA and I am not convinced Gilbert is a better prospect than Gadson. Their offer sheets are similar.

For the sake of discussing roster numbers, let's say Stoops signs the 15 hs seniors currently committed to UK plus-

Trey Cornist, RB
Karmello English, slotR
Tavion Gadson, DL
Asa Newsom, LB
Jamarion Wilcox, RB

And let's say Stoops also signs transfers-

Tanner Bowles, OG
Marques Cox, OT
Ray Davis, RB
Jantzen Dunn, DB
JQ Hardaway, CB
and a transfer QB

And let's say Ken Horsey and one other player in limbo (such as JJ Weaver) come back for another season.

These assumptions appear more or less realistic, and give us a frame of reference to discuss. Under these assumptions, 81 scholarships would be full. For the spring semester, this calculation would leave 4 more scholarships for new second semester inbound transfers, plus more open scholarships depending on the number of UK undergrads who leave the team between now and next summer.

Following these assumptions, Stoops could still use a couple more LBs, another WR, and another OT.
Man I wish we could get Bell too

Dunn apparently could play safety or CB. The #10 safety out of high school, AL, MI, OH St, TN, and several other top programs recruited him. Looks like a worker, Rowland said he gained twenty pounds in a half of a year so he looks physically ready to go. Has three years left to play.

Gadson is about the same size as Gilbert, albeit with a few less offers. I like that we identified an alternative to Gilbert and took action. 6-5. Love the height.

R90, please keep posting these updates - I for one enjoy the analysis and info you share pertaining to our roster!

Wilcox, Davis and Leary . I believe people are sleeping a bit on Wilcox . We beat the big boys (OSU, Clemson) for this guy . May turn out to be the best back Stoops has signed, and that’s saying a lot .

I think English could start at the slot as a freshman. Thats if Robinson doesnt come back
IMO the best slotR on our team will be Anthony Brown. And Jordan Anthony is one of the fastest players in the SEC. But Coen uses a lot of receivers.

Have you seen a scouting report by a professional evaluator on English?

How bout that WR you mentioned? Are they still committing

I'm confident about Wilcox and Davis too. Not sure yet how the QB situation will shake out but Leary could be the guy.

I too believe Wilcox is underrated, and I think it may have something to do with his height. He is short but strong and quick. Whether he will ever be as good as Snell or Rodriguez is a question that cannot really be addressed yet. Very few RBs are. The SEC is rough on RBs. Staying healthy is half the battle. Snell benefitted from running behind an excellent OL. To a slightly lesser extent, Rodriguez has too. Rebuilding the BBW will be a story unto itself.

I have. I think he could start cause he is strong enough to compete as a Freshman though you make a good point that Brown could as well

I believe Anthony Brown is a future star at UK. Brown and English are about the same height and weight, but Brown is faster. I know English is good too. But Brown has a top gear that English doesn't have.
