Starting lineups dont matter-ASS!!!

Cal doesn’t care enough to start the best players. The players don’t care enough to play D. Most of them don’t care about UK. I didn’t care one bit that they Fing lost. They got exactly what they deserved.

Imagine in the tournament when every team is playing for their lives. You’re playing a scrappy, veteran team the first or 2nd round. They come out red hot and get out to a 16-5 lead because your 2 top 5 picks are on the bench. The pressure steadily mounts as the game goes on and on. There’s just no need for it. It’s insanity. In every team sport, at every level, you start your best players.

Go ahead and start Reed and Dilly.. won't make one difference whatsoever.

They both suck defensively. Go ahead and trot them out. The result will be the exact same.

No one plays defense whatsoever, it will not make a darn difference who starts.
The obvious answer to anyone who has ever played sports is, you do not give an inferior team an advantage to think that they can hang with you. Good God this is like principal number one, bury them early.

There's a reason there is a term called setting the pace. This isn't rocket science, by the way.

Wagner, Edwards, Ugo and Thiero combine for 19 points...

I’ll take the two guys who are FAR better offensively and no worse defensively than the other two guys.

I liked what DJ and Edwards were doing the last few games. I mean edwards for sure looked like THE most improved player over the last 2 weeks in all of college. So I get starting them, we've been doing it all season anyways.

But they were off tonight.. maybe even regressed. And they should have been pulled sooner and left out.

Cal tried to get them going, but it's still to shaky. We need to swap DJ/Edwards for Reed/Dilly for game 1. Had we won tonight with Dj and Edwards playing well, maybe we keep it going. Can't now though.

This isn’t rocket surgery.... starting the best players and playing defense are both important and something KY teams used to take pride in.

BTW does Mitchell have pictures on this coach???? I mean what in the wide world of sports is up with his minutes?

Those of us with a brain warned that starting off in a hole would eventually bite this team in the ass, but the Pollyanna's defended this nonsense tooth and nail.
And not just "eventually", but the bad starts to each half had ALREADY been burdening this team all season long, and contributed to many of our losses. Which is obviously gonna happen when you intentionally handicap yourself by not starting one of your best lineups.

I just think it's funny how some fans seemed to be brainwashed into thinking this must be part of some keen Cal strategy. Bullshit. I think he's just doing it because he'd already promised starting spots to certain players before the season began, and is afraid of the consequences of breaking his recruiting promises.

Sure they don't. Go down 8-1. Give confidence to a inferior team. Good God Cal is an idiot!!!

It’s got to be the most mind boggling thing I’ve ever seen. A guy like Calipari that reeks of cheap charisma convincing thousands that a starting lineup consisting of the absence of your two best players is some smart play.

It’s unbelievable. I’ve said it since day one, the moment we decided Reed and Dillingham weren’t primed to be the starters, and spent the entire season trying to get Edwards and Wagner to walk, that was it. Wagner is a backup pg in college, and Edwards belongs at a program like Vanderbilt. Yet Calipari can’t accept it because he has more loyalty to Wagner than his own program, and what what would KLUTCH think if we played Edwards the 5 minutes per game he’s good enough for?

Calipari teaches the opposite of what every coach has ever taught and only done so to recruit his OAD athletes. It DOESNT WORK. You cannot sustain success this way. Yet here we are.

Any, ANY, other top program in football or basketball would have already fired the guy. Again, yet, here we are.

It's all about recruiting. Loyalty to old friends and sports agencies. To keep getting more players. Just to lose with said players. And on the drums beat.

They don't matter nearly as much to warrant the constant complaining about them, though. We switched out and only made up 1 point the rest of the half. And then when the non-starters were in the game in the second half, A&M ran away from us.

How does it not matter? Those first 3 or 4 mins of each half allows teams the chance to both build a lead and build confidence, resulting in us having to count on freshmen continually coming off the bench to overcome said deficit. Not exactly a winning strategy.

I didn't say they don't matter at all. Read it again. I said they don't matter as much as a lot of people make them out to.
