Have you guys made it though without any serious injuries? We have 2 more days and only a few pulled/strained hamstrings, couple of bruised shoulders and 1 non football injury. The non football injury happened when players were headed to practice, 2 of them backed into each other, airbag deployed and hit another player in the face who was a passenger and blinded him in one eye, hopefully only temparory thing, but still some serious bad luck for the kid.

UK withheld a few guys for surgery rehab, had others get dinged with an ankle or whatever but apparently nothing serious. Did have guys miss time due to an "illness." Guess they don't have antibiotics in Lexington. Otherwise, were pretty lucky.

Problem we have is the Ky media doesn't excel at asking questions.

A little medical information for you. Viral diseases do not respond to antibiotics. A viral disease the influenza is what is going around this year and it is a type that the Flu shots give little protection for. They guessed wrong this year when they were making the serums.

No illness that I know of, but we did have a few like you recovering from off season surgeries too, but nothing from spring practice, other then the odd eye injury during travel to and from.

FSU had several miss practice because of illness. Guess they don't have antibiotics in Tallahassee either.

Hopefully we don't lose a projected starter this year because of a tennis ball to the eye.

The antibiotic jab is funny if you think about it, also, from what I understand it is a bad stomach virus that has nothing to do with flu or bacterial.

Good stuff though,

Dave

Stomach viruses like all viruses do not respond well to antibiotics. The good thing about stomach viruses is they make you very sick for about a day or two but then you are over them. They although they make you very sick are short term. Influenza is a dangerous mutating viral disease that can kill you. Influenza has the potential to be one of the most deadly viruses on planet earth because of the way it mutates to forms for which the population has no immunity

From what I've read there was not one single injury or illness during the entire Spring which is a cause for concern going forward into the 2015 season, save Phillips blown Achilles. And even he will return in the Fall to get coached up to be 3rd string QB. So I think the Spring was very successful from a health standpoint, maybe I'm missing something but all of the guys who sat out here & there was purely precautionary and nothing long term at all.

Hopefully all the guys at receiver who sat out part or all of the Spring come back healthy in August. Concerning they had to cut on Montgomery's knee once again. Dorian Baker & Ryan Timmons better be ready to roll at 100% come fall camp.

Kobie Walker and Phillips are the ones that may be out for a period of time...the other injuries were pre-spring surgeries for the most part.

Yeah..the antibiotic thing was funny. There is a gastrointestinal thing going around central Kentucky. My entire family with the exception of me has had it and it's viral and not bacterial, thus antibiotics are useless. It lasts 48 hours and is nasty. If that was the sickness then no way he could or should have been around other players.

The most important thing for me coming out of spring is that it looks like Barker didn't win the job. I think it's Patrick Towles. Barker will be ready though and I expect him to play some this fall.

It seem UK has two viable options at QB, The WR numbers are up to par if they can get all of them healthy, a TE seems to have been found and the OL seems to have improved. RB should be OK once all are healthy

The defense is still my biggest worry. It shall we just say was not very good last year and lost its best players in Dupree and Smith. A lot of young players played last year so lets hope they return this year bigger and more ready to contribute.

I like that UK might have some taller CBs even if they are freshmen. The taller SEC WRs have abused UKs short CB the past several years.

The defense must improve if the record is to make much improvement this season.

IMO NT is going to be OK with Lewis, Elam and Hyde manning it. There is a lot of young players and Heuginin at DE who knows? LB returns every player but from a group that just were not great. Lets hope there is some help fro the new bloods and that the oler ones have progressed and improved.

There were no major injuries DURING spring practice. Unfortunately, there were several players at key positions (starters or possibly important depth guys) who were held altogether due to offseason surgeries. Just stinks b/c those guys really needed the reps...

Timmons
Krok
Reese Phillips

seems like there were a few others
