Speakers a little to Loud

My seats are close to the new press box so that may be the problem but, the speakers/music was WAY to loud for my taste and comfort level. Several people around us were complaining also.
Now before i get rip for being a "get off my lawn" old fart, let me say that i like to play my music as loud as anyone but, Saturday night's volume was very uncomfortable most of the time. Not sure what the decimal level was but from where i was sitting it was beyond the "ouch" level.

It's pretty evident that zero of the renovation dollars went into the sound system. Big Bertha would be an upgrade for Commonwealth.

Shows how far CWS was behind for UK Athletics to look at the sound system and think "That's not a priority with everything else we've got to upgrade".

Once the Baseball Stadium is complete (within a few years)... I see UK updating the end-zone luxury suites... that will be a good time to update the structure for the video boards & sound system.

Not only that but the music was extra gay Saturday night. I'm all good with some new music but "just dance" played at uncomfortable levels is torturous coupled with the trash game we played.

This ^^^^^

There are a number of upgrades planned for CWS. However, the football program will need to consistently be competitive. There are options galore. One of which is to construct a two level structure identical to the new press box/suite on the south side on the north side. This structure would be include additional suites and other amenities. There are no plans currently, but may be something you see in a few years. The structure would bring the capacity near to what it was before the renovation. The end zone suites or the "trailer park" as it has been referred to will likely a project further down the road. However, amenities like Wi-Fi, chair back seats and anything else that benefits the fan experience are on the front burner.

New sound system was installed 3 years ago along with new jumbotrons.

I tell ya - our fan base really does look in every nook and cranny and finds something to complain about. Before the new sound system was installed, it wasn't loud enough....now it's too loud.

Personally, I go to games to watch the game (season ticket holder since 99, minus the last 2 years of the Joker era)....could care less about any of the secondary things like pre-game atmosphere (I tailgate and hang out with my buddies - life is good), the type or genre of music being played, how loud the music is, the food at the concession stands, etc., etc., etc.

Go cheer the Cats on and enjoy it - forget all the sideshow stuff.

Has anyone complaining been to games at Ole Miss, SC, LSU, UT or Auburn to name a few? I think they turned up the sound a notch or two for the students but it is still tame compared to many others. Our PA system is much clearer than both UT and LSU where you can't hear the announcer at all. The upside was that from where I sat, I didn't hear one note of the UF band!!

I agree with the OP. I used a decibel meter on my phone and the music plays in the bottom of the dangerous scale. I don't need to be entertained during every time-out or break in the action with blaring music and gangsta-level bass. Turn it down to about 60 db so people can have a conversation. The sound in CWS *REALLY* stinks.

I liked the comment where we never heard the Florida pep band. In years past the continuing "Go Gators!" and their fan base singing the fight song echoed around the stadium.

Not this year and our music and crowd noise drowned out Florida's band and fans

Well done UK, this is SEC football not a choir rehearsal!!

I guess I am probably in the minority but I was happy with the sound level and at one point (I think during the second half) it sounded like someone turned the volume up even louder which was awesome because it drowned out the Florida band. Plus it got the crowd amped up, at least it did where I was.

Not to mention the "theme from Jaws" which is almost as bad as Rocky F'ing Top!

waaah waaah waaah...music's too loud...lights too bright...don't like the uniforms...popcorn was cold...seat was too hard...waaah waaah waaah....JUST F--KING STAY HOME AND LIVE IN YOUR PERFECT F--CKING WORLD AND QUIT WHINING BEEAUCTH...

Convinced folks just complain to complain. Best sound system I have heard in a college stadium and music was fun and kept the energy up. Sorry they did not play Cotton Eye Joe or some other stupid KY theme country song.

I hated that song so much, and the song "I'm from Kentucky and I like it that way" that they used to play all the damn time. Country music has no place in a football stadium.

Like the sound....I'm 56 (almost 57). I love rock and usually detest the modern crap but......I really like the song they played by the Kongos. I'd never heard of them; my neice who was sitting with me told me why they were. Unlike Oak, I like the "We're from Ky" thing....To each his own.

If I hear JUst Dance one more time I hope the DJ is burned alive by ISIS at the 50 yard line. And no one I know wants to hear cotton eyed joe , but some ACDC might be good instead of Bruno Mars or whatever San Fransisco special is being played.

It was loud but that's great! Real energy. Hope they let some student's pick some music. I thought it was all very positive. Liked the cameras roving through the stands. Would like video of some former players or UK celebrities getting the crowd up.

Dear lawd...this is what you found? It's clear to me our fans didn't enter a new stadium to see all the new things..their objective was to enter and quickly find something they disliked.....only uk fans

Also...part of the design of the renovations was, you know, to keep sound inside the stadium so it got loud

I can't hear a damned thing they say.

Of course, I'm legally deaf and would love to hear what's going on. Before I lost my hearing, I used to listen to Cawood with my headsets, but I can't do that anymore.

Watching from home, 3rd downs sounded bad but that was it, can't speak to the volume in the stadium. 7 Nation Army sounded like a car stereo with a high output radio and stock speakers. It wasn't that the volume was too high it was just really fuzzy and distorted, the speakers couldn't hang with the rest of the system. It should be exactly as loud as it can be and still sound right. if that's 50 or 150 dB, crank it past the limit then turn it down a smidge.

There's this magical invention that costs a few cents (if you go with option A). Both are guaranteed to be fruity music resistant. [winking]

Being there I found the decimal level to be just great...its not a funeral.

The crowd was great also...if the music which really sets the atmosphere was to low people would complain ...I'm waiting for the day someone complains the crowd was to loud.

I agree that the music was far too loud. It was not enjoyable. It is such a nuisance that it encourages you to prefer to watch the game on TV rather than in Commonwealth Stadium. You could not carry on a conversation with the person next to even if you wanted to and it seemed non-stop.. Players on both sides were dancing to the music during time-outs. However the sound was very clear and much improved on introduction of various guests.

^ I agree sound system night and day better. Season ticket holder since 2002

The sound is great. The music is noticeably better. Sorry they didnt play cotton eyed joe or whatever classic oak ridge boys song these posters were looking for.

Don't know about UF game because I wasn't there. At the ULL game the speaker volume was about right though. Unless they cranked it up since the ULL game I don't see anything to complain about.
