South Carolina Newspaper on Kash Daniel

kid is playing it close to the vest. i would be surprised if its not UK but not shocked. i agree with some of the pundits that he is not a slam dunk to UK but if he signs with UK our coaches deserve a boatload of credit for selling him on UK... just like timmons, hatcher, barker, and elam. all those guys were leaving the state too til stoops and staff got in their ear.

Based off of the radio show that he hosted with Jackson and Young, I strongly feel that he will be in the blue and white. Hopefully my feeling is right.

Something that actually crossed my mind, he said days before the radio show that he made up his mind on where he was going to play. Didn't think much of it, but he said on the radio show that earlier that day, he visited UK, and took more tours of all of the facilities, checked out the field some more, so on and so forth. I don't feel like he would go through all of that, nor do I feel like he would have committed to play in the very same game that both Jackson and Young are committed to play in, this early on, unless he chose UK.

Why would a kid from Kentucky go to South Carolina to play for a coach that could call it quits before he even gets there?

I would be shocked to see him commit to USC after all of the UK based talk shows he has appeared on lately. The early commitment date makes me even more confident that it will be UK. The kid has stated numerous times that he has played on All-Star teams with Drake Jackson and Landon Young since middle school. That has to help UK.

Hopefully staying close to home and playing with his friends will bring him to the #BBN!!

Fingers crossed.

Not at all surprised...these team's fans and media never expect to lose a recruit to us until they do..Barker was supposed to go to USC..Elam was supposed to go to Bama..Drake Jackson was supposed to go to Ohio State..I can go on and on...its like us never expecting to lose a basketball recruit to a perceived inferior team.

Stoops is basically lights out when it comes to Kentucky kids, and him moving his decision date sooner makes it even clearer that UK is the pick.

I mean think about it for a second, there's only one reason for moving the decision sooner: he's so sure where he wants to go that he doesn't want to wait.

Given that, which scenario is more likely: he's so crazy about his rising home state school and a recruiting class anchored by in-state talent (which are his good friends) that he wants to commit early; or that he's so crazy about a South Carolina team that we beat last year that he wants to move his decision sooner?

It's pretty clear to me. It's clear that he really, really likes his home state school in Kentucky. If Kentucky weren't going to be the pick, and there was another school that he wanted to compare Kentucky too, he would be extending his decision date..not shortening it.

He's shortening it because he's either all-in on his rising home-state school, or all-in on South Carolina, so much so that he doesn't even want to consider his home state school for a longer period of time.

To me, it couldn't be any more obvious what the pick is going to be. Kentucky has always been his leader..if he was seriously considering another program, he'd be extending his timeline, not shortening it.

It's clear what's going on..Stoops and Co. realize that the reason the '14 class was so strong is because of the early tone-setting commits which he got from highly rated players that were salesmen for the university to other players. The staff is using the exact same approach this year, and it's obvious that these guys are all talking to each other and wanting to work together to build something.

Kash making his decision sooner only solidifies the pick in my mind. He's moving it forward so he can help recruit other players for this class, and help make this class stronger.

Logic says that he is coming here by his actions. But that isn't always the case as we have been played for a fool before by a recruit that I shall not name.

I think you are right. I haven't spent much time in his county, but I have in 15 or so counties Southwest of his. And a good Kentuckian would not do that.... IMO. On the radio he was talking about camps, combines and etc.; its not like he has been isolated and hasn't seen anything else; and to visit and more or less, flaunt himself in the coach's face..... no good Kentuckian could do that.

One more thing, he wants to be a two sport athlete: and Kentucky is 13th in his second sport.

My thinking too. Spurrier was unable to lure Barker, so cautiously optimistic that Daniel will follow the same route to Lexington. Must come to grips with the fact that Daniel had a good visit to South Carolina. Spurrier has had success there because they recruit and develop pretty well. If Daniel picks South Carolina, I dread watching this board light up like a pinball machine with 15-20 threads from sanctimonious critics screaming that he lead Stoops down the primrose path for attention. But I think Young and Jackson are influencing Daniel to Lexington as we speak. You are so right, our coaches deserve a boatload of credit. We will not get all the players we want, but they are filling our program with players who will be on the field in the future when Kentucky gets voted into the polls and goes to New Years weekend bowls. I believe Kash will be 1 of them.

Thought I read that UK doesn't offer his intended major, Criminal Justice. Is that right?

It is true, or was until recently anyway, that the state of Kentucky has invested most of its secondary criminal justice educational resources at EKU. Ironic, isn't it? When I went to Kentucky, I had a topical major. That plus my military service set me up right and helped me get into the corporate security business. If Kash wants to major in criminal justice, he can do it at Kentucky as a topical major and work with a faculty advisor to schedule any classes he wants to take. Kentucky has big social services and social studies programs that could contribute classes to a criminal justice topical major. Kentucky has a fine law school that might be able to help with a tutorial or 2, I don't know. But there are criminals and criminal courts everywhere.

Maybe he could take advantage of the NCAA loophole that lets you transfer after you graduate without losing a year if the other school has a curriculum your school doesn't, and finish up his degree there.

Nah, he wouldn't want to leave UK when we are on the verge of a NC. Besides, he might be in the NFL in three years.

Seriously, if he is as talented as some think (and most competent athletes usually think they are even better than they are, you have to) and with the ridiculous money thrown at athletes these days if I were him I would major in football and still make sure I didn't put all my eggs in one basket.

And it looks to me that UK FINALLY has maybe the best S&C program around, great facilities, and coaches that can get you to the NFL.

Not to mention if you aren't a super star or make the NFL your being loyal to your home state will be remembered and open more doors for you than anywhere else.

Let's crawl before we try to walk, eh? a NC is a stretch for a little while. Let's worry about winning the East, and possibly the SEC first. Getting the talent and beginning to get the depth to compete. Just gotta continue to progress.

Aren't you going to tell us where Kash will sign?

Was this the same SC newspaper that said that Drew Barker has already pack his bags for Carolina a few years back?

total buzz kill if we don't sign Kash. Will be Harris disappointment all over again. I'm still pissed over Harris.
What does Harris have to do with Daniel? Every high school athlete weighs his options and makes his decision. Most of them don't come to Kentucky. We should be satisfied with the players Stoops signs, and enjoy it when we beat the others.

The Harris thing isn't that big of a deal. Life goes on. 1,000,000+ other high school athletes, sign another really good running back, on top of the one we already have, and move on. The only form of disappointment that I still show regarding Harris is that he played the staff for quite a long time. They did a terrific job recovering by getting an All-American running back in the last couple of days though.

Thanks Rhavicc. Another good post and I thank Kash would be a great addition to our Cats. We have to force other programs out of out state to look elsewhere. With a few slots left lets continue to go and get unprecedented recruits.and continue our revival!
