Sorry to Say Basketball is Over It is Football Time

It time to talk and get into football for next season. All that is left of basketball is who is going, who is staying, and who will sign this spring.

Lets get into what is happening at the spring football camp. It has been so quiet out of that camp that one would hardly know that a football camp was in progress.

I'll start to feel a lot better about '15 when Stoops announces a starting QB. I'm so tired of QB competitions

IMO, everyone should be excited about the potential of this years offense. We'll finally see some weapons at the WR positions that have a little experience. The OL should be a bit better. And Boom Williams is set for a monster year. Just need to get the QB position squared away.

FWIW, the Cards are going through the same (i.e., QB auditions) this year. That is the first time this has happened at UofL since the ex-CSK days. And it might be a new thing for CRP as well. In his prior stints he has made a QB decision pretty quickly and gets into a 60/30/10 type rep rotation ASAP.

Some buzz UK will have an open scrimmage on Saturday and, if so, we fans can see for ourselves and come back to this board and cast our votes!

IMO a QB competition in the spring is OK but I think it should be settled in the spring and not go into the fall. Fall should be about getting your starting QB ready for the season not a QB competition. If this goes into the fall I am going to think that the coaching staff is not real enthused with either QB. Even if the competition is close I think a decision has to be made and not let this drag out into the fall. IMO you want your number one getting most of the reps in the fall to allow him and his receivers to bond and get on the same page.


IMO the decision will be made by the end of spring but I will say if it does go into the fall that I am going to think that the coaching staff has serious doubts about Towles and are leaning toward Barker. They will pull the trigger and name Towles at the end of spring if they see him as the man.

There are probably at least as many good reasons for not naming the starting QB this early as there are reasons for jumping into it. At least it seems the coaches feel that way.

1. Play in a Bowl Game

2. End that miserable losing streak to the Gators

3. Win all OOC games

4. Part of #3, beat UofL

5. Win 3-4 SEC games

That will give KY a 6-8 win season. Real progress that Stoops can sell to the fan base and recruits.

I was just saying with the end of basketball season and spring camp in progress that now the concentration can now be more on football.

Yes I do know we still have the who is going and who is staying thing and spring basketball signing period. I do think however football will now get more interest.
