Agree with OP. Bit of a cocky attitude which was evident with his little back and forth dribble at nearly half court as if he was going to "take" Briscoe to town. There was something about his demeanor that turned me off as a fan, and made me thankful that he didn't choose UK.
Got caught on tv making a cheap shot to Skal. Nothing will be made of it though. He's a talented punk.
He's being told recently that he needs to take the team to the next level. I think he's probably being a bit cocky as a response to that. It looks out of character.
You did see the shenanigans Skal was pulling just prior to, right? Slinging Simmons down after a grabbed rebound. Ramming into him on the way down the floor after. That love tap was warranted.
Glad Lebron never went to college. I would've hated seeing him in the blue and white.

Simmons provided the same calming presence as KAT and others have for us over the years. Of we had him, we would be dominating teams with our backcourt.
But he didn't....
Simmons was in single digits until the last 4 minutes when we had no bigs out there. Simmons two games against actual big men he had 4 points and then tonight.

I know Dude is a UK fan, but that reeks of UL posters regarding Wall, Boogie, Knight, Harrisons, Randle, Young, Jones, Lamb, Teague, WCS, KAT, etc.,etc., etc
What I can't stand is the hype. Comparing him to Lebron and Magic. Saying he's the best player since Lebron. Ingram impresses me more, tbh

I have watched the kid before and at times he comes off as lazy on defense and disinterested. Although he was interested in playing us as was the rest of their team. A lot of his rebounding numbers come from him camping out waiting for a rebound instead of playing defense.
We didn't lose because of Ben Simmons, we lost because we played like shit.

I love his attitude, reminds me of Ulis. Talks a little trash and backs it up. Killer instinct. Toughness. Confidence. We need more of that.

I agree that the Simmons hype is a little out of control. He is the best player in college basketball currently but he isn't half the player and prospect that Lebron was at the same age. And any team that drafts him expecting the next Lebron will be disappointed. I would love to have him at UK because he is a fantastic player. But the NBA is full of players with the same measurables and skill set. He will likely be an all-star in the NBA but I don't see him being the best player in the world at any point. But I could be wrong, I am all the time. I should add that I don't have a problem with the way he acts. Seems like the typical elite athlete.

As a person and basketball player he seems fine, as I've got no idea about him either way. What annoyed the heck out of me and what I didn't like was all the freaking coverage about him on ESPN. Good grief!
The only reason some UK fans don't like him is because he's not wearing a UK jersey. Put the blue and white on the kid and he would be fine with 99% of the fan base. Just like the other kids who wore the blue and white that people who were not UK fans, didn't like how they carried themselves. Don't be hypocrites.

If you were 6'-10", looked good, were well spoken, pulling more wool than most men could handle, oh and months away from being a multi-bagillionaire, you would be a bit arrogant too, and rightfully so.
Yep it would suck to have someone in the post that isn't made of toilet paper, can score, defend, pass out of the post and even bring the ball up the court if need be. Come to think of it, that would be the worst thing to ever happen to this team.
