Sorry, but this is relevant to football, even if some fans don't think so. This is a reflection of

The things going on at UL reflect badly on all of college sports,it makes us look at the underworld of big time college athletics a bit differently. Is it worse, better or the same as handing out fake grades and fake degrees for 20 years or 50$ handshakes in the 70's and 80's?

The NCAA is way to busy worrying about a plate of pasta in Oklahoma,a tattoo in Ohio or a female college golfer using a university hose and water to wash her car.

We (on this board) have all had a great time with this because it is UL,but when I think in terms of the big picture I wish things like this didn't happen in college sports.

Was she wearing jean cutoff's and a t with no bra? Sorry, couldn't resist. I agree though, the NCAA seems to spend an awful lot of time on very trivial matters. Meanwhile the UNC scandal looms like an elephant in the room. And now this with UL. Every scandal like these hurts college sports reputation overall. Lots of casual fans already think everyone is cheating, especially in recruiting. This UL thing only piles more on.

Even if the NCAA drops the hammer on UL because of this, I just have this nasty feeling that Pitino and Jurich will claim deniability and throw as many assistants under the bus to placate the masses. I just don't underestimate the measures they take to protect Pitino.

The way you survive something like this is not to try to spin it but to shut up. All scandals have a natural shelf life. The trick to surviving them is to keep quite and hope it doesn't whip up into a frenzy before the shelf life wears off. This is how UNC has survived. They clearly are guilty as sin but after a while nobody is talking about it anymore. The problem for UL is that Pitino and his defenders won't shut up.

Jauk11 always brings it.. I like his style.. and yes, it is quite pathetic the going ons at da'ville. The hammer has to be brought down on these deniers.

Actually had the same thought as I typed the post, but I read/heard the just such an incident was deemed a secondary violation.I don't recall the school(visualization fogged up my memory)

We'll see. The end of the season thing is a plausible scenario. Right now, I've seen zero indication the people that matter at Louisville are anything other than 100% in Pitino's corner.
They're going to give it every chance they can. Louisville isn't Kentucky - there aren't any elite coaches leaving their current gigs to go there, especially under the circumstances. With an up-and-comer walking into this mess it could take years to recover, if they ever do. So they're going to hope against hope Pitino can somehow survive this but it isn't going to fly. In the end, he'll probably be sacrificed in some sort of deal with the NCAA to keep that tainted championship banner in the rafters at the Yum Center.
