Some things just stay the same…

Don't worry ARKY fans. Cals gonna get them ready for march 🥴
Wonder exactly how long Cal can push his BS before ARKY fans start seeing the holes in his logic. They're still in honeymoon right now, even though they lost they still think Cal is going to replicate 2010-2015 Kentucky and they're worse off now with Cal than the guy they fired.

Yes which made Baylor all that more dangerous. Word of advise, don’t ever bet on sports with logic like yours.

The point is that Cal pissed away a perfectly winnable game in the name of.. what? Player development? Proving his offense still works? Not prepping for the other team? Not teaching how to attack a zone? He somehow manages to get in his own way when he should be focused on winning the game.

Typical Call team! Athletes who can make spectacular plays individually, but can’t shoot a lick. At the end of the game, players were in piss poor position and continually get beat off the dribble. Postgame he also played all the hits! Thanks Hawgs
One thing to point out. If Baylor was hot from 3, they would have won by 10-14-maybe even 20 points. The 2nd half, Baylor was cold from beyond the arc. However once it got below 2 minutes, and Baylor had the lead; I told the guys watching the game that it was over…why? Because I’ve watched us squander the opportunities to fight back by poor play selection (aka: nonexistent) and horrid defense. Then terrible game management by NOT to calling a timeout to draw up a real play to ger points. It was a bonefide Cal clinic.

Z is really wasting his talents in Cal's system. Maybe he will come full circle and transfer back to UK next year because he has the perfect skill set for Pope's offense.
I respectfully disagree. I don’t think he is very talented period. He Moves in quicksand and he’s weak as water. We don’t have anyone on our team that plays like him and that’s by design.

Nah. He can stay with cal. This fan base spent money out of our own pockets to help get him eligible, screw him. Plus, like the above poster said, he’s crazy overrated. He was abused last night.

I like big Z, but the kid look's out of balance all the time... He could be a good player on the right team... But not with Cal's offense... Cal only thinks he knows how to use big men... Yes I know a couple are NBA players but that is still not Cal's teaching... If the players had lots of talent they worked out, if they had talent like me they either were not very good or could not make it...

This is not surprising to me at all. This board extremely overrates Big Z and did all last year too. Everyone fell in love with him immediately based on a 16 minute sample size in his first game against Georgia last year. And to be fair, he looked like a legit superstar then. But if you take remove that, he shot 19% from 3 last year and everyone acts like he's a sharpshooter. Plus he is constantly lost on the defensive end.

He's still a giant work in progress and not nearly as good as people say. He's a perfect example of a modern Cal player; a lot of potential that people confuse with current skill.
I don’t disagree with everything you say. But Cal is horribly mis-using this guy. He’s got skills that would have been perfectly suited for Pope’s style of play. I think he’d be producing more if he’d decided to play for CMP. It was a bad decision on his and his handlers part. That being said, I really like what UK has in Amari and look forward to seeing him work.

The thing Z has not shown is a motor…whether Cal or even Pope could find it…who knows. But he is a negative on the boards, not strong in post,

So if he csn hit a few threes, make some nice passes…but that about it. And given cal ain’t running offense thru a big man shooter….Z will be the same guy more likely

That’s so true, they missed a ton of wide open shots.

Some stats that gave me a chuckle:

- Arkansas bench combined for 8 total points.
- 13 assists, 11 turnovers.
- Big Z a measley 2 points.
- Johnell Davis, a fifth-year senior with Final Four experience, takes the 4th most shots on the team behind the likes of Freshman Boogie Fland and Sophomore DJ Wagner.
Also, Davis only played 21 minutes, while DJ and Fland played 35+. Lmao can’t make this shit up.

I know you’re talking about last year. Cal didn’t run shit for Z all year. He ran a couple pick and roll lob plays @Mississippi State and then never even ran those again, let alone plays designed to get Z open looks from deep.
You have a good memory. It’s mind boggling we didn’t run that set the rest of the year.

For Arkansas, and Cal, it's really quite simple.

DJ Wagner is a little more experienced, but still has not got the look the other top and elite guards have this year. Big Z looks to me to be far more hype than substance. Thiero got worn out because at this point of yet another young season for his team, Cal relied too much on him. He had no choice. Kentucky fans know he will rely too much on a couple players, someone will get injured, and regardless of all the talent he's got, they're going to lose. The top two players on the team will be worn out by season's end, too many minutes and injuries usually killing team chemistry. Injuries might derail Cal again. I hope not, honestly. And currently, Hogs stand at #278 offensively and #126 in defense. Not exactly a good start.

Arkansas is an alright team. Not great, not that bad. They can have Cal. Good for them.

It's interesting to see Cal and Arkansas, gonna be fun to face off with them in Rupp!

The rankings are fairly ridiculous to start the season.

That same higher ranked team they lost to just happen to lose their first game by 38 points.

Good teams don’t lose to ANYONE by 38 points, Baylor is not good.
The difference is, I believe that by the end of the year Drew will have Baylor molded into a pretty good team . I don’t believe the guy coaching Arkansas will do that . In fact, I won’t be surprised if they have regressed.

Arkansas will definitely be a better team once Davis and Aidoo are fully healthy (may have won last night with a 100% Aidoo) but I do worry about wearing down toward the end of the season. Cal only going with a 9-man roster (of those getting NIL anyway) may come back to bite him. A little surprised he didn’t play the rest of the roster even in the exhibitions just to see if they could be surprise contributors. Don’t think anyone thought Theiro would be as good as he is now when he first got to UK.

Cal losing a big game early in the season. Scoring 67pts in the loss. BORING!!! Glad he’s gone!
My observation was the glaring fact that the Arky defense was even worse than UK's defense last year and that is saying something. Baylors guards were constantly blowing by players and getting to the rim. Some things will never change. Glad he is gone......

Every UK fan that knows anything about basketball knew that Thiero had the potential to be a great player given the opportunity to improve.

Unfortunately the dumba$$ coach we had last year refused to play him ahead of his prized NBA wannabes and left him on the bench way too many games for way too many minutes.

Funny. Now he NEEDS Thiero to pick up the slack, so he is playing him until he drops.

UK fans wanted to keep Thiero. He chose to follow his abuser.
