Kentucky OT Jordan Swindle says offense will be "explosive."

Swindle said two years ago only five UK players ran over 19 mph while monitored in practice. This year: 33 guys. Team speed way up.

Swindle: "If we go to a bowl game this year, that's a success. I want to do better than that, but that's my minimum bar."

Senior DT Melvin Lewis: Matt Elam making "huge strides" this summer. Catches Elam running outside alone. "He wants it. He has that hunger."

Stoops has been worried about corner, hopeful freshmen help. Said it's a good group, getting great reports on Westry.

Stoops: "We've worked really hard to make Kentucky relevant in the SEC East. (In 2015), we've put ourselves in position to do just that."

Stoops on new OC Dawson: “I like the way our players respond to him. They like playing for him.”

With Dawson hire, switch to 3-4 D, "I really feel like we have a very good, strong identity on both sides of the ball," Stoops said.

Stoops brings up John Calipari on his own. Once again thanks him for his willingness to help UK football recruit.

Stoops: "We have a long way to go. I knew that when I took this job, and I'm very optimistic about where we're at and where we're going."

Stoops on recruiting: "We attack Kentucky. We need to handle our state first." Then with Ohio, "we treat that almost as in-state as well."

Swindle worked with UK sports psychologist on false start. "It's an emotional-state thing." Figured out he was over-excited.

Lewis said of Elam "I'm holding him accountable," telling him "you gotta make an impact this year."

Stoops did an outstanding job at SEC media days today. I thought he nailed it, was very confident and did a great job of explaining his vision for UK football. The SEC Network guys had some good things to say...kinda split on if we will get to 6 or not. They mentioned FL and UL as the two key games to get to 6 (kinda Captain Obvious games but eh).

elam can be a difference maker to the tune of +2 in win category "if" he can get his conditioning and technique up a lot from last year. good to here he is working extra on his own.... that shows he wants it and isn't just doing "what he has to".

Guest on Leach this morning said that the UK guys were well-versed to keep talk close to the vest and avoid any news making comment. I think Stoops wants all the talk to be on the field this year.
