Some basketball heads still gonna roll at espn?

Stephen A smith is impossible to watch.I used to watch when big sporting events happened to hear their remarks but he went all over the place.

Sucks for all of them. I'm glad I can still watch Jamelle and Mike smith as well as first take

Hill is the absolute worst host on cable, not just ESPN.

"She’s been accused of using her sports columns for race baiting, in addition to creating a double standard by being openly racist in several of her editorials and columns. For example, in a 2007 column about Barry Bonds, Jemele herself admitted to playing the race card, writing that it’s “somewhere in my back pocket, but I’ll play that later on.” [ed – fair warning. Dr. King really just wanted people to openly admit that they were planning to be racist and offensive to each other at some point in the future]."

ESPN stated they wanted people who were multi faceted and could cover multiple sports rather than people were "baseball only" or "hockey only". They also defended SC6, which is an undefendable position, and despite more promotions for that show versus all others combined ratings were down for it 12%. They cited positives such as viewers who were AA were up 15% and made up 41% of the viewers for that show. What???

So you promote a show non stop with an announcer who knows zip about sports, who is an admitted racist, who just challenged a Boston area radio personality to a physical confrontation - all because he said she is horrible on TV and how could former espn employees not be upset that they were fired and, she is still there and your best idea is to double down? No wonder that place is tanking. Then Stephen A went on a rant the next day because people criticized him saying if he was let go they could have saved most of the jobs with his salary. Maybe instead of having 4-5 people do the morning sportscenter have 2 people do it and actually show I don't know highlights instead of people talking over the highlights.

I wish they would do away with the argument shows and show replays of games from the night before instead. Might help the West Coast teams get some attention, too.

ESPN got rid of people who can actually write an article that would get someone to read. They chose to go with ex jocks to keep on TV and get rid of people who can tell stories and create website content.

THIS - While I didn't always agree with some of the things Eamonn Brennan and Dana O'Neill said, they wrote very well and helped me to understand things from another point-of-view. If letting the better writers go across the board is how ESPN is dealing with things, I can't help but think that they want to present a dumbed down product.

They're just catering to a dumbed down culture, right? What they believe is people no longer want in depth analysis and reporting, what they want is "personality" and opinion. The more colorful the better. Makes no sense for them to produce a product no one wants, that's the route to irrelevance and bankruptcy. We've seen this before in other places - it's why "McNews" became fashionable (only one pit stop on the way to Fake News!). No one watches PBS, and it ain't just cause of perceived politics. As a culture, we simply don't have an attention span allowing for much more than people yelling at each other. Getting "connected" - the internet, smartphones, social media, all of it - just accelerated what was already started. Kinda makes you wonder what the future looks like......

Espn lost it's mojo when they quit broadcasting fringe sports . Now all you get is a bunch of guys and one pretty lady sitting around chatting about football. I say go back to table tennis, Australian rules football, naked twister etc....
Give me dodgeball on the Ocho....because... I need to get a life.

How does Steven A and Wilbon keep a job? Two loud mouths that will pull the race card. I mean, I can't stand watching people who have to talk loud or scream to be heard. Say something worth hearing and you don't have to do that.

They doubled down on loud personalities. Goodbye to writers and reporters.

A major crisis hits them and their response is to go Thelma and Louise.

I quit watching naked twister when they brought the Samoans into it.

I could be wrong, but doesn't seem they've let go of any of the game color commentators, play by play ppl.

Don't understand how le batard is still there, especially if they actually are paying his dad on that awful show
Highly Questionable is a GOAT show. You just don't get the show

In that article it says that numbers are up for SC6 with 18-34 year old African-Americans, so I guess that explains to some extent why they're sticking with it. I really can't stand either one of those hosts and find them thoroughly unentertaining and unfunny, but apparently it's not for me.

Do you have an example of Stephen A playing the race card or are you just playing the race card card?

Any chance Katz could take seth davis's place- he knows less about basketball than my 11 yr old grandson.
