See/support our own Shai Alexander?

Probably should have shut that game down 10 years ago or more...but since it won't die, anybody going?

They still play this thing at Freedom Hall?

I went to the first five of six back in the day. Some great talent back then on display.

I used to go. Went early and got autographs one year as a kid.

We drove all the way from Danville another year and it was actually a sellout. We couldn't get in. Times have changed.

Which Danville? In Kentucky?

Live and Louisville and have been 1 time in my whole life if that tells you anything
You got me beat.......I've never been. I really don't enjoy that kind of basketball. I like the defense end of the court more than I like the offensive end. I love a player like Hawkins, who wasn't scared to belly up to anyone......running backwards. He looked forward to being knocked on his ass.

Clark Keĺlogg, Dominique Wilkins, Isiah Thomas, Sampson......just a few of greats that played in what was the premier all star game prior to Mickey D's, etc.
I'll always remember that year not only because of all the talent, but because at one of the practices, yes back then they were open, it was the first and only time I got to meet and talk to Cawood!!

Maybe...debating it with my son because we normally go to support the UK guys, but it has become nothing more than an Otis love fest and the UK guys are treated like dirt. Haven't been in several years.

That class of '79 had to be the best ever....both in terms of college AND NBA production

Melvin Turpin was in that class also but went to Fork Union Prep school in VA to get his grades in order. That really was the best high school class I can remember.

The last derby classic that I went to was when Chuck Hayes was on the roster.

I've went every year for about the last 7. The crowds have gotten worse, but there's still some great talent that come through. P.S. Freedom Hall is falling apart. Shitty venue and they better invest some $ in it or the Derby classic will die

They shouldn't shut it down. If they did there would be no place for Louisville and Indiana recruits to showcase their talents. They are obviously not going to get invited to the bigger All-Star games.

A good year was when Rick Robey and Moses Malone were there. The PA announcer was introducing Robey last and started by saying just signed"or committed to" with Kentucky this morning and the place errupted.Malone told Robey I think you picked the right place.

It used to be big stuff, but Hoops Summit and Jordan/Brand games killed this. Just not the same type of players

I had no idea so many great players had played in the derby classic over the years. Thanks for the history lesson guys. I've been 5 or 6 times but not in the last few years.

I am going this year since I did not make it to a UK game and this one actually has a UK guy on roster.

Back then they had a one on one contest and James Lee beat Moses in the finals and the full house went crazy
