Head coach job….To be honest I just can’t wait til Stoops and his entire staff get tf outta Lexington!!! That way we can bring Jon Sumrall back home and get this thing back on track! I have little to no doubt that Jon will kill it here!
Yeah and it just can’t end soon enough!!! Really wish Stoops would go ahead and trip over his prick (coach cal) and end the misery! So ready for UK football to be what we all deserve and love!Sure seems to be a lot of interest from Marrow this off season in these coaching searches. Probably a good indicator he knows Stoops days at Kentucky are numbered.
that's my take as well.Sure seems to be a lot of interest from Marrow this off season in these coaching searches. Probably a good indicator he knows Stoops days at Kentucky are numbered.
It would hurt but not nearly as badly as it did before NIL.It appears obvious that Marrow wants out of Lexington but hasn’t had the right landing spot. I’d say Stoops could survive without him but it’d be a big blow.

Yeah I don’t believe there is any greater meaning to it. That being said, he has an Eric bienemy/kenny Payne feel to him. I don’t ever see him getting a head coach spotVince interviewing for HC jobs doesn’t bother me. Most coaches want that opportunity. It does seem like he’s looking for landing spot if things go south tho
Vince has turned down head coaching jobs. He is making $1.3 million a year at UK. If I was making $1.3 million, it would take a lot to get me to leave.Yeah I don’t believe there is any greater meaning to it. That being said, he has an Eric bienemy/kenny Payne feel to him. For a career decision he would take a little less. And my point is he’s kind of stuck at what he is now. If he could have gotten a coordinator job somewhere he would have in order to build his resume and show he can run a side of the ball. If he could get even a decent lower tier hc job he would have. His life after stoops going to be to go somewhere else and be a recruiter. Thats fine for him but he’s just not an HC type unless it’s a bad job taking a flyer that he’s going to bring in players. And that actually matters a little less than it did 5 seasons ago now with NIL.Vince has turned down head coaching jobs. He is making $1.3 million a year at UK. maybe because stoops has shown he is not a good coach? you did a lot of talking to defend a bad coach. You guys may have a short memory. Marrow has received interest from other schools throughout his 13 year tenure at UK. MI St, MI, UL, NC, Youngstown ST, and others. Demonstrating his market directly serves Marrow's financial interests because it gives UK a reason to promote him and give him raises. There is nothing unusual or selfish about that. Many coaches take interviews for precisely this reason, and it is smart in today's competitive world. I doubt Marrow leaves unless Stoops leaves.
Many fans never accepted Rich Brooks. Many fans have never accepted Mark Stoops. Both are Barnhart hires and, as we know very well, there is an irrational, bitter corner of the fan base that will never accept anything Barnhart does. We have covered this ground before. Barnhart was hired by Lee Todd to get the boosters and LHL leakers out of UK's athletics department. This infuriated many boosters and they have never forgiven Barnhart. Reams of threads have been posted here, brutally and inaccurately characterizing Barnhart, Brooks, and Stoops. These people persistently dump their toxic garbage in this website and ruin it for proactive fans of the program with open minds.
Stoops has had a difficult couple of years as NIL and other changes have descended upon the program. Stoops has gone through a bloody divorce, and his sons relocated to CO. I believe he lost his focus. But Stoops knows what needs to be done. Whether he can actually pull it off is a different question. He buckled in 2024 and the result was seen in the record. UK's roster has since been rebuilt. On paper, this is a deeper, better team, especially if Tru Edwards makes it to campus. Whether Stoops can win more games with a better roster remains to be seen. But Stoops could have tucked tail after 2024, and he didn't. Compared to the spineless, anonymous crybabies repetitively complaining about him here, Stoops has real stones and is actually willing to take responsibility.
Stoops probably cannot survive another season at UK unless there is a significant improvement in the quality of play. But it isn't because of anything anyone posts on this website. I just don't think the donors and the real supporters will stick with him for another 12 months unless he earns back our trust. I continue to donate to 15 because I love my University and because the program is much bigger than any individual. But I hope Stoops can recover, because that would be good for our University. If he can't, that would be a shame. I wish him the best. I can't understand the resident negative Nancies on this website, but I know they are unhappy people with misplaced hostilities, weak wills, and an uncontrollable need to make other people miserable like them.
And I'm not aiming the brunt of these comments at the two posters I quoted. They simply framed part of the issue with Marrow's interview. Everyone knows who I am talking about.

Bingo, I think all parties involved, including stoops, knows this is his last year. Also I think Sumrall backed off North Carolina job because he knows this is stoops last year too and talked with Mitch and stoops,Sure seems to be a lot of interest from Marrow this off season in these coaching searches. His college resume is a stray season at a MAC school. Then he recruited for Nebraska but wasn’t a position coach and that was back before schools had coaches in secondary analyst positions and all of that. He’s been an assistant for his best bud for 13 years and many would argue was the most valuable assistant to the program in the first 8-10 years because of his capacity to recruit hs kids. If anyone would have reasons to give him a coordinator spot to keep him around it would be stoops if he thought of him as a legit strategist or ‘coach’. Lord knows we’ve given the job to a whole bunch of people searching for someone.Vince makes good money for an assistant coach. But he is nearing the end of a career. Started as a HS coach, made it to college level and his success has been more of a recruiter than a developer. But he is approaching the end of a career and may be looking for an opportunity to make that retirement a little nicer. It's amazing how similar his career to Sam Pittman, never been a coordinator, was highest paid assistant in the country at the time, but that paled to an SEC head coach's salary. He took the Arkanasa job, with limited success, but has helped his retirement and publicly stated it was his last job.
So is CVM really looking or looking for a bump. Bowling Green certainly can't pay SEC money, maybe not much more than he is getting now. Or he may just have an itch.

I’m not bagging the guy my point is simply he just isn’t a guy that’s really built to do more than he’s doing. His full fledge college coaching resume is as a position coach at Toledo in 2008 for one season then his time at UK. It doesn’t scream ‘built for more’. Pittman may be a comp but it’s a generous one that feels like a stretch. Pittman did coach at 10 d1 jobs and 3 sec schools prior to getting the job including having arguably the top position unit in the conference at uga. 5 stops as an AHC.
