Against Wake Forest and Maryland he could get behind the D before the qb was sacked or had to run.

I didn't see him play so I take your word on him. But Bama has signed as many top 100 WR as anyone in the country, more top 100 OL than anyone else and it isn't even close there. Yet they are hitting the portal for OL and WR, Nick throwing WR under the bus when Bama loses. Has Nick's age and years of losing multiple assistants annually finally catching up with player development at Bama?
It looks like he's going for 1 more run and then retire on top. No way Bama should have to go portal unless a trifecta of bad luck hits them. Injury, transfer/arrest, early nfl entry... That could wreck any program but they just don't seem to be developing anymore.
I think Saban hates the portal and Nil. I think he’s exploiting the heck out of it trying to force the NCAA to come up with some changes. I could be totally off base here but he and Kirby pretty much said this would be the result last year when they were asked about it. Young’s NIL deal became public awful quick last year.

We did really well last season in the portal, they exiting this year, but you can't promise snaps. That Statement wasn't about Daniel's, he took getting replace as anyone could expect. Webb kid just didn't physically grow into an SEC OL, he can't get to 285, Mims wanted quarantined snaps, when he was told they were earned he stopped trying, EE OT had already passed him on depth chart. Could be great, but got to mature, hate it won't be with us.
To be fair, I don't worry about who's transferring from EKU or Morehead either. Maybe if UofL can show they actually belong on the same field as us I'll start showing some concern.

I love how Stoops and Vince have both been publicly swaggerific with regards to dealing with Louisville.
While I realize you can't start shooting off at the mouth at UT when we have a losing record v them even with just this staff who's beaten them twice, you've got to make them a focus. Downplaying the Tennessee game is horseshit. And the same for Florida. We circle those games on the calendar as a fanbase.
I'm not saying Stoops has or hasn't one way or the other, I'm saying they need to ramp up that focus privately and a bit publicly. It's time to rustle some jimmies.

You are correct. And he hates it because before, Alabama could pay players and get away with it. Now everyone can pay them and it’s funneling guys to other schools where they might see earlier playing time. He can’t stockpile players to keep them from other schools. Nil and the portal are enemies to Sabans cheating ass.
That pond was pretty small last year and, yet, they still were not very big.
Your reputation has to be total dog ish in the industry if you look at what was built at UL during his tenure, are winking back, and the search firm running Miami's AD search threatens to quit if you are on the vetting list.

Saban is probably telling the truth when he says he doesn't know anybody who tampered. But Bama fans heard him whine about losing his 2 WR and having to play inexperienced WR. Well Nick it was game 15, play more than 2 to build up their stats and develop some of those WR Bama signs every class. UGA had 2 frosh that caught TD passes in that game.
They got one of UGA's WR to transfer over too, no idea if he was tampered with or not, but by the time it was out he was leaving it was also announced he was going to Bama.
Now the OT from Vandy is different, it took quite a while for him to announce where he was going. So he was probably legit.

Right now I don't think there are any rules, it really is do what you want.
I mentioned this earlier and saw it posted elsewhere that D1 football is on the verge of no longer being under NCAA supervision. 40-60 school that want to be big time programs will pull away and will do what it takes to win. It won't include all P5 schools and will include some group teams. About half the ACC willows to not be in the big spender group. Vandy likely won't from the SEC, most of Big 10 will be in but BIG12 will have several play down as will Pac12. If college administrators can't get this mess under some kind of control I just as soon UGA go for tier 2.
So Grumpy...are you cool with the Louisville WR playing at Bama immediately since it was a non conference transfer after the Feb 1st SEC deadline? Why does which conference he left matter to immediate PT or not?
I am a believer in following the rules my administration has agreed to follow. If I feel strong enough against a rule its either move on or pressure my administrator to campaign for a rule change. But clearly Bama saw at spring practice they needed more help at WR, I rather them have to go out of conference for one than come after one at UGA, or the guy at LSU. Would you want them coming after UK's number 1 guy last week of April? It will also keep ATM and Texas from coming after players they need when spring practice is over to fill weak areas.
I am mostly messing with you....No official rules are broken but it's stupid IMO that Bama can go poach a kid from a non conference team to fill in their roster and play right away vs. SEC kids try to transfer to SEC school....they have to sit a year if they hit the portal after Feb 1st.
And we all know Saban may have no knowledge of tampering....but it's pretty easy to say we need WR help and have Bama people do the tampering for him...and shazam...top WR is going to Bama like magic.
This would be like a big market NFL team needing a QB and then tampering to take a top QB from a lower market NFL team each season they have a hole to fill. All this is going to do is create an even bigger gap from big schools and not so big schools.
Well truthfully the other 13 sec teams could have gone after him too, it wasn't like Bama was the only one who could. To me, it's finally starting to effect Bama losing all their assistants and development is suffering. That's the only explanation I can come up with as well as they have recruited OL and WR. Their OL was bad, even O'Neal had to grab rushers by the head and the RT was just hugging people. So they went out and tried to fill needs. Don't know if we can play with them this season or not, may not have a chance. But I feel ok about the season, maybe our best offense ever.
