Adjustments on defense were definitely made at half time. On offense, we moved the ball more than first half. Just couldn't get a stop when we needed it to get it under 10.

I'm guilt of that because I like the guy and I also give him the benefit of the doubt because his style is to remain calm and thoughtful instead of emotional and animated and its paid off for him for the most part and even in some games where I thought we were dead then came back.

But I will say that I think one area that may not be his strongest is creating energy when we lack it. I think a few of those first TV time outs could have been spent talking about nothing but energy and fire as we clearly lacked it and it didnt matter what strategic stuff we talked about it wasnt going to change anything if the energy didnt change. Its just not his style to do much in your face stuff but there are times we need a wake up call.

I do agree to a certain degree with the OP. Pope is more of positive Coach. His mentor Coach P would make you pay in the next practice. I wish a Pope would barrow some of that mentality and then his teams will actually play defense, rebound and show more energy .

I believe his a little too soft, and overly nice in trying to over complement everyone.

His players are also softer because is a generation thing. So maybe his method will work.

However, what I completely dislike is the adversity that any critical opinion of Pope is met on this forum. Nobody can say anything critical of Pope.

A coach that rants and raves all the time like Cal or Hurley just comes off as an ass. I remember Jamal Murray would even laugh in Cal's face sometimes coming off the court when Cal was screaming at him. I hate how every coach thinks they need to stand the whole game and pace the sidelines now, like they are playing. Wooden, Rupp, those guys stayed seated unless there was really something that made them get up and get in a refs face.

Did you expect better than a Sweet 16 before the season after Cal took all of our players and Pope had to pick from leftovers in the portal? If you did that is on you and yes is an indication you aren't very intelligent or you are not a UK fan.

Assuming you are not to intelligent let's break it down for you to a 5th grade level. Kentucky basketball has been playing games for over 100 years. They only have 8 championships. That is second all time.

So over 90+ years we haven't won the whole thing even with Rupp, Joe B, Pitino, Tubby and Cal and with all the top recruits. Pope overachieved bottom line for the situation he was given and the talent he was forced to take.
