Makes no sense. Wouldn't throws to the backs have loosened up Iowa's defense a little? Or to the TEs?
But we've been told that we had 5 future NFL TEs on the roster. Cummings was MIA all season. Dingle had some good games but only one late target today. Leading up to this game, I started a thread regarding what UKs OC should do against Iowa. It wasn't throw sideways to WRs all game long, that's for sure. There have been multiple games this year that the offensive game plan made no sense to me. This is just one more, I guess.Kattus being out hurt. He was a a great FY. Oline was not strong enough to support a FY QB. Brown needed a big game and didnt have it. Iowa punt coverage and field position managememt was also huge for Iowa. UK did fine.
And throwing to WRs all day long. Iowa threw a bunch to their TEs, but not UK. And, when was the last time we ran a TE screen that Iowa gashed us with a few times? Supposedly, we have all this talent in the TE room and couldn't figure a way to get them the ball? Really don't understand the offensive game plan today. Totally opposite of what I'd posted in a thread a week ago.
And Barion Brown better improve next year. Runs lazy routes, doesn't make the 50/50 catches but rarely, too many drops, etc. Could be an AA but needs to learn that WR play is more than straight ahead speed.
Agreed but Dingle had some good games this year and Cummings did fine last year although almost nothing this year. As someone else said, neither are great blockers so why not throw to them?We were down to like the 4th string TE
