There’s not a basketball coach at any school that doesn’t know X and O and how to draw up plays.Agree. He is a great x and o coach, but he has to be an embarrassment to UConn.
Assholery isn't in the DSM.One day, years after he derails his career, ESPN will do a 30 For 30 about Dan Hurley. They will say he would've been one of the greatest of all time if his mental illness didn't derail his career. It'll paint him as a victim, and we'll all feel sorry for him.
(I'm not making light of mental illness. But, IMO, something ain't right with this dude.)
Cal would like a word. There’s not a basketball coach at any school that doesn’t know X and O and how to draw up plays.
Or any assistant for that matter.
Exactly. Calipari on line 3 to tell you all about his singular out of bounds play.Cal would like a word.
How dare you basically acknowledge that BBN overwhelmingly wanted him as our coach last Spring!I know this isn’t going to be the consensus here. You know I would’ve loved to have him as our coach with 2 championships under your belt you can be as cocky as you want to be when you can back it up! When he’s your coach you will love him and when he’s not you will hate him that’s just the way it is!
I know it's fashionable to say that Cal knows basketball. But he does. I'm not taking the time to argue against a decided point. But let's just Cal doesn't know X&O's. He can buy a dozen guys to draw up plays for a dime. That's the going rate.Cal would like a word.

He's a slime ball, and Kentucky fans have never embraced cocky coaches who win at the highest level!

We've got hindsight at this point. I think most all of us are very high on Pope at this time. But he was an unknown commodity during the coaching search. I would have taken Hurley if he wanted to come, because you just can't look past winning back to back titles. But he's made himself look even worse this season. I watched him absolutely meltdown when he lost those 3 games in 3 days in the early season tournament. He then took exception to some refereeing and scolded the ref for not looking at him as he was the best damn coach in the country. How dare you basically acknowledge that BBN overwhelmingly wanted him as our coach last Spring!

totally agree. but some coaches are much, much, much better than others at doing itThere’s not a basketball coach at any school that doesn’t know X and O and how to draw up plays.

sadly we did have one that had no clue to dial up a decent gameplan not now thankfullyThere’s not a basketball coach at any school that doesn’t know X and O and how to draw up plays.

Similarly to Cal, when you're winning you can put up with a bunch of bullshit, but it looks like shit when you're playing midlevel basketball.
Given that, and now that we have evidence of Pope and how vastly different his demeanor is on the sidelines (after we just ditched a coach with volatile tendencies), it's not hard to think, "Whew! Glad we missed out on that asshole!"
Exactly!Hurley is the biggest asshole in college basketball since Bobby Knight. I never wanted him close to our program. Jackoffs like that belong in the Northeast.
He'd be an embarrassment to us civilized folk. From what I've seen of UConn people ... well, I'd say he's an ideal representative.Agree. He is a great x and o coach, but he has to be an embarrassment to UConn.
