So Classless For Iowa To Continue To Pass 4 Times In Last 2 Minutes When Up 21.

Iowa was obviously the better team today. However, I thought our play calling with the many screen passes in the flat was just so predictable and so Kentucky. I believe we only passed to the tight end across the middle just one time.
My problem was with Iowa wanting to rub salt in the wound, so to speak, by them passing 4 times within the last 2 minutes. I can’t remember a team not starting to take a knee up 21 within the last one and half minutes.
I know people will say it’s our job to stop them, but why continue to run up the score with the game well in hand?. I was hoping we would sack their QB and knock him into the next millennium, but alas I did not get my wish!!
Did anyone else feel them continuing to take shots to the end zone inside the last 2 minutes was total BS and showed a lack of class?

Iowa fan here. Yeah, that last possession was not characteristic of Kirk. He has taken a ton of heat from Iowa fans over the years for letting RBs get killed bc all we do is handoff in that situation (3:00ish), teams know that and put 9 guys up there. He's even down it inside the 10 instead of running a play to score.

In any case, those who know Kirk know that this wasn't his MO. If he does something like this, there is usually beef with the other coach, but I don't get that feeling with Mark and Kirk.

On the other hand, it’s a testament to our awesome D play that we didn’t break
Well said CP13. I don’t “like” it because I bleed blue. But what I don’t like or hate is that I want to see our coach take some offense. Alma mater or not you represent UK. Maybe a little whisper to the other coach “I’ll remember that” or something to the effect. Maybe he did, Stoops is known to have a long memory aka James Franklin.

Dude, I'm an Iowa guy. I have no explanation for what or why Iowa did this. Have been an Iowa season ticket holder for years and Ferentz doesn't do this. Ferentz and Mark Stoops are close friends. So yes, I'm puzzled but somewhere within lies the reason for it-- I just don't have it.

I agree, the end of the game made me lose respect for Iowa's coaches (I'm sure they care!). I also thought they were above the cute series with the TE at QB. That wouldn't have been so cute if that dude got hurt running the Wildcat right before he starts counting NFL $$$.
It was reported BEFORE the game by the Iowa broadcast team they were going to give LaPorta some game snaps in the Wildcat. On top of that, I even posted a picture on this site earlier this week where Iowa was practicing this IN FRONT OF THE MEDIA at practice. So stop the bitching about LaPorta in the Wildcat.

What an odd post

What is odd about commenting on a team trying to pass 4 times with less than 2 minutes to go when your team is already up by 21. Running the ball and making us stop them is completely different. How would you feel if your son were on the short end of a 21-0 score and the other team was still trying to trying to score and they completed a touchdown pass and it was your son who the pass was completed against? You are a moron to think trying to run up the score against UK was not a classless act.

Do you think it had anything to do with playing Hogan ? Was there hard feelings about that transfer?

I really don't think Hogan had anything to do with whatever happened. Kirk apologized for making a comment in jest towards Hogan before last year's final regular season game but since then it's all forgotten and over.

I would imagine Iowa did it because Stoops and Ferentz are so familiar with each other and know where each other is coming from. We would have likely taken knees if it were against a "stranger."

I have no problem with what Iowa did at that last drive. I initially thought maybe we had our second and third string guys in there with the way the Hawks were suddenly moving the ball. Kudos to our D for showing some pride and not laying down when they could have.

This is what's so frustrating about playing Iowa - they just won't let you hate them! Most of the Iowa folks here admit or agree that it was, at the least, unusual.
Good luck, until our next bowl game (let's hope its in the playoffs!)

In that situation, I tell my son to shake the other team’s hand after the game, congratulate them on the win, and then focus on what he needs to work on to get better if he didn’t like how it felt.

Don’t whine about what the other team did or didn’t do. That type of whining also lacks class.

I hate this mindset. It's more offensive to me to take it easy. This was a 21-0 bowl game. Isn't the argument that you're working on stuff for next season? Then we want to cry about someone continuing to try and want to score?

This wasn't some basketball game in high school where a team is up 85 points and still full-court pressing The School for the Blind. It was a bowl game of two 7-5 teams.

Put on a mask, and embrace all that was the event today!
