It was a night of Cal's team finally doing what we wanted them to do the last five or six years of his tenure: hit more threes, play defense, and give 100% effort.
Cal would still be here if his teams could put up performances like this on the reg. But, he proved his "Kentucky Effect" philosophy. It just means more when you play against Kentucky regardless of what he said in his post-game. This wasn't just another game.
At the end of the day, we got bch slapped. No two ways about it.

This part of the reason our defensive efficiency rating just took a nosedive from 72nd to 89th.
Seems our defensive plan is to be in the wrong place, leave shooters open and hope they miss.

Lot easier to get a nice clean look when you are 7'2 . Also a lot harder to defend ,,, makes me wonder why he forgot to use Carr at the top of the key to play pick n pop . So many people hated on Z , no wonder he had extra motivation to show out . Great model for a successful player these days .. very tall , shoots the three very very well. And the Idiot Cal actually played him . In some games ( losses) Cal buried him on the pine .. but we are made for a player like Z to excel against ... NOT athletic at all, poor in the PNR game .
The only thing Z can do is shoot threes. He literally has nothing else to offer. So, what does Pope do? Let Z take wide open threes.

Have to close out and jump at kids like Z. Make him put it on the floor. Pope knows a lot more about basketball than me, but his close outs strategy drive me crazy.

Pope has been absolutely outcoached in numerous games this year. But being outcoached by dipshit Kal of all people is pathetic. Starting to think Pope is one of those that thinks he’s smarter than everyone else and does such ridiculous shit that it actually hurts. All year he’s had the team just completely leave the opposition unguarded from 3.

Defense was awful. Cal was motivated. Cal coached how everyone wanted him to the last five years. Thiero is really good now and Wagner had his best college game.
I don’t think pope been out coached a lot at all this year. Last night and Ohio state are the only 2 games. Every other game lost was because of something else
