Writer makes it clear that's who SMU prez was talking about.

I hope he is saying this to put the NCAA on warning. What SMU did for Frazier is a parking ticket compared to homicide when matched with Julius Peppers' transcripts to keep him eligible in football AND basketball, or Rashad McCants making the Dean's List while admitting he never attended class.

Good move. If I'm this guy, I'm not doing anything until UNC gets ruled on. Seriously...coach isn't sitting 1 game until we see what their punishment is and then divide that by 1000 to get SMU theirs.

How is it, this UNC thing has been out there for over a YEAR and NOTHING? How did SMU jump over the UNC probe? It's a joke.

Wait, didn't SMU get hit hard because of Brown, the admin and the player all lying to the NCAA, the admin instructing the player to lie, Brown hiding the violations, and finally Brown being a repeat offender? If so, not sure what the president is complaining about.

Precisely. Just imagine the size of the hammer for lying for over 20 years. WOW. UNC may be turned into a prep school.

SMU got in trouble because ONE player got help to keep him eligible to play basketball. Have you ever looked at Julius Peppers' transcripts for the year 2000 -- when he played on a Final Four BASKETBALL team? No way he was eligible without fake classes. Have you looked at Rashad McCants' academic record? All A's --- Dean's List! -- and he admits he did virtually no work.

If you are so stupid you can't see the relationship between SMU getting in trouble over trying to keep one player eligible, and UNC having an entire system in place to keep scores of players like Julius Peppers and Rashad McCants eligible on teams that played in Final FOurs and won championships, then I genuinely feel sorry for you.

I wish more Presidents of the Universities that have come under NCAA sanctions would speak out and show that they have had enough of how the NCAA is playing favorites.
How much longer will it take for them to make a decision on UNC** cheaters?

but obviously we hired some wrong people" who are no longer working for the school.

^^^^UNC has been harping about the rogues are no longer present , well I guess that doesn't really matter anymore .

I seem to recall your school employing Frank McGuire, Dean Smith, Larry Brown, and Roy Williams, four of the biggest cheaters in history. Go tickle Elmo.

Some of the most sought after players have come and gone through UNC.. I think it'd be harder to prove any wrongdoing with what they have accomplished over the years.

[roll] Let's talk about Roy who knew exactly what his players were doing in the classroom. No, let's talk about how Roy didn't know what they were doing in the classroom. Let's talk about Roy who got KU in trouble. Or, maybe we can talk about Roy who asked the usher to check the Presbyterian kid's ticket or how about Roy who left his scrubs on the floor for the end of the game so he and the real players could run to safety![roll]

What do you think Jan Boxill did the first go round, idiot?

As everyone now knows thanks to reporting by Dan Kane of the News & Observer in 2013, Boxill worked overtime in July 2012 in order to get removed from the FEC subcommittee report a key phrase that suggested the scandal had been facilitated by Debby Crowder and her “extremely close” ties to the athletic program. Boxill sought the deletion of that phrase and Crowder’s name because, as she put it, “this could raise further NCAA issues, and that is not the intention” of the report.

And some of the world's best scholars -- Rashad McCants made the Dean's List with All A's after describing college as 'just like jail' and admitting he never went to a single class. Can you imagine the brains it takes to do that, while appearing to be a barely literate numbskull in all public appearances?

Yes, no one school is immune from the ncaa. I just thought it would be interesting to see what you thought of the idea that they are "too big to fail."

Oh, wow, I hadn't read that. Thanks for posting. And she worked with the women's team, right? Is that why everyone keeps saying the women's team is going to get hit hard?

If you don't think the lying and past troubles didn't exponentiate the penalties then genuinely feel sorry for you.

So if you lie to the ncaa your punishment is worse, is that what you are saying? If so then explain to me why the ncaa investigated unc 4 years ago and found no wrong doing after your administrators lied about emails and fake classes. Then ncstate investigators go in and find these emails and more proof of fake classes and force the ncaa to come back and investigate again. Covering up evidence is the exact same thing as lying so in my eyes your university lied about what was going on and should be punished accordingly.

Man, that's a pretty big word. Are you sure you aren't Rashad McCants, the Dean's List genius? UNC-CHeats has already been charged by the NCAA with 5 major counts including impermissible benefits to athletes and a Lack of Institutional Control. That covers the entire athletic department. Losing control of your athletic department "exponentiates" the penalties more than anything else, throughout the history of the NCAA.

You are toast.

The NCAA is really pushing it here. Is the NCAA too big to fail?

I have always thought the case against UNC is more of a test for the NCAA and whether they have the balls to actually enforce the rules against one of the big boys or are they just as corrupt ( probably more so) than the schools they are trying to keep in line. Sure they can hammer a lil guy like SMU where the $$$'s are small. When they look at UNC.. do they let all them $$$'s blind them to there purpose and function?
Will their failure to punish one of the most egregious examples of corruption at UNC lead the NCAA to it's own downfall? For it's own ineptitude.

Sitting back and wondering what will happen.

No, "everyone" keeps saying that because it was the best deflection money could buy for an institution clinging desperately to its flagship sport that is about to go down in flames in the biggest academic scandal in NCAA history; a scandal in which UNC has proven they are willing to throw its women's basketball team under the bus to avoid, further illustrating they have no qualms with exploiting women and minorities in order to fulfill "the Carolina Way".

Your act was initially slightly amusing. Now it's just redundant.

And I apologize if my first sentence was a bit long. Forward it to McCants and see if he will proof it.

What on earth are you talking about?

You guys privately funded your own investigation to start this whole thing. You turned your findings in to the ncaa and they accepted your findings as the truth. Then ncstate along with other sources like McCants and your other whistleblowers whom you have fired started shedding more light than what your inside investigation uncovered. Your administration and everyone involved either lied or helped to cover things up. If we would have taken your guy's word for it this would all be over with no punishment coming your way. However, some people do tell the truth and now that is why you are where you are. Lying is lying and there are many ways to do it. You being a unc fan should be very well versed in this concept.

You remind me of the crooks involved in the Watergate Scandal. You sound just like G. Gordon Liddy.

Deny, deny, deny, cover-up, cover-up, cover-up, keep people quiet with intimidation, whitewash, say there is nothing to see here, throw people under the bus, hide evidence, circle the wagons, have a slush fund, lie to the press over and over, and then think you can get away with with it all.

How did that turn out for Nixon and his gang?

Don't forget about the Roy who called losing basketball games a catastrophe on par with the earthquakes in Haiti.

Nice try ... She was all over the men's side as well. Just click on the article i posted for proof.

It amazes me how Bradley intentionally ignores that fact. As was posted earlier, Boxill pressured faculty to change their report to keep the NCAA away. Of course, the part she wanted removed was in reference to Crowder who was an AVID men's basketball fan. I am sure we will see that in the documentary since Bradley is looking for the truth! (sarcasm)
