Sixth Man was released in 2013 but I just watched it last night as it finally popped up on Netflix. For any UK fan it's a must watch. It's an in-depth documentary about the crazy and rabid nature of our basketball fan base - obviously by far the best in the country.
So why I am talking about this on the Lair? simply becasue I see the signs that this intense passionate group we call BBN is permeating the football program in a major way as well. The twitter following of recruits is off the chart. The spring game attendance enormous and activity on boards like this continues to be heavy.
What I can see happening in the coming years, as our football team continues to have more and more success, the fan base becoming more and more of a factor driving the success of the program. Some people may underestimate how important fan support is but if you listen to Coaches Calipari and Stoops you will understand just what a major factor it is in succeeding.
Sixth Man has me jacked, especially with the final four and a chance to get a banner and maybe smack Duke in the mouth again, but also becasue I see an enormous wave of energy that may well start elevating this football program in the very near future.
