If I'm a guy trying to lock up a 2 million dollar NIL deal or if I'm his agent--I'm not taking that chance. I don't think most will.
It’s a totally new day, to start as a freshman at UK you will have to be exceptional. Jasper should fit that this year and I think Acaden and Moreno being backups and playing 10-15 mins is just about right. Jasper could end up a backup and Acaden starting nobody knows. With how the portal is now though and not having to sit out you don’t have to take a guy and live or die with him. Can recruit a high school kid for years and not get him and even if you do you are hoping he’s what u think he is. You can spend an hour on a portal kid and have a general idea of how he will do. I think we are mixing and matching perfectly and what’s even better now we are looking at soph and juniors in the portal. Not a one and done freshman and not a one and done senior. Coach is building and playing the long game and also in on better athletes and defenders while not sacrificing shooting. Selling UK is much easier than selling BYU. Hadn’t won a tournament game, didn’t play defense, and didn’t get top players were the 3 big knocks when we hired him. 1 is down and the others will come this year and next. 2026 high school recruiting could be a game changer especially if we are even better this year vs last year.
As I understand it, and I've read the proposal, it will only affect players in the next portal cycle and won't at all affect NIL deals. It has to do with revenue sharing.
Not even a mention of UK. I still don't think he was worth 2 million.
One thing I love about pope are his comments about reevaluating the teams needs after each commitment. I think that is the correct path.

But Matt Jones has a law degree and seems concerned it could go into effect this year.
And it seems the players and their agents are also concerned. I think that's why we're seeing these recruitments move as quickly as what we've seen.

I know a couple of Georgia fans. And the main takeaway from them is that if he is your second guard in terms of Pg duties you’re sitting in a very nice spot. But if he is your main PG then he struggles

I know some people who know some Georgia fans, and that was basically what I heard too.
Pope is quickly running out of the top portal guys
The 3 lead guards in the final four that transferred to their new school was ranked 41st, 45th and 69th in the 24/7 portal rankings. It isn't always about getting the "top" portal guy as it is about being a good fit and having other good players around them.
Pope wanted Demary without doubt. He and the whole staff went to his home.
Not saying he didn't but under Cal we got into the whole recruit rankings in determining if our team would be successful. I am just saying some teams, in this portal era, are put together differently and you don't have to get a team full of burger boys to be successful.
There are so many things in the world that can bring you happiness. I don't relish the pain of anyone on this board. I want you all to be blissfully happy. Find those things that make you happy and throw away whatever doesn't. That's all I am here to convey.
If true... that's awesome. But all I have gotten out of your last hundred or so posts is that UK doesn't have money for NIL.

Funny how Demary was very important to us but a guy like Pierre comes along and is a whole lot better. What if Demary had committed to us then we would have been kicking ourselves with no chance for Pierre.
It is absolutely true, my brother and I have said this previously but perhaps not so pointedly. I am not here to make people miserable. I'm here because I woke up and found happiness in other pursuits and I want that for absolutely everyone else.

Judging by last years portal commitment dates, I'd start worrying the second week of May. Players still have till Apr 22 to enter the portal, and there's no cap on when they can commit after that. Full portal picture isn't even out there yet.
Still months left of this and hundreds more players to enter, we will be looking at players way into May but you aren’t going to convince the we are running out of time people. Critique the roster when it’s complete, until then everything is speculation including every post, update, and theory.
Hundreds more? Maybe, but at some point the talent starts to wane. And I don’t care what some say, you still need talent to win a championship. Look at the Final 4. They’re all loaded.
