If we are talking public school coaches that may be true. Private school coaches, at least those here in the Nashville area are being paid $200K-$300K to coach(I was shocked to learn this). If you look at the distribution of where the kids go…it’s anywhere and everywhere.Didn't make myself clear, was talking hypothetically. My bad. Still, that's the way this thing is played. College coaches pay HS coaches to funnel players their way. If the HS coach fails he's not paid. If your guy is an unpaid asst worth tens of millions...good for him, it's good he'd donates his time.
I have no idea what kind of player Porter is. That he has poor HS stats are unimportant, not his fault his QB can't throw. Let's hope he turns out to be a great player.
What incentive does anyone have to “talk down” a player? Do their words affect the performance of the player? If anything it’s a) a challenge to the player to prove the coach wrong; or b) the coach was right with their assessment.
Personally as a UK fan I hope he(the coach) is proven wrong. As someone I’ve known for over 27 years I trust that it is his honest opinion.
