Mark Pope says the staff is doing on in-depth study on the officiating of Kentucky’s first two SEC games

Adds that they have been in correspondence with the SEC about last night’s game to “learn about the whistle.”

“We’re interested in the rules that are being called… The whistle is not going to win or lose us games, but we can use it to our advantage.”

Not only does this show that the program sees the officiaiting problem, and that they are looking to address it (and possibly change their game play to mirror what's allowed and what isnt).. but it also sends a clear shot to the SEC, in that now they are made aware that teams will be doing their own investigations on officiating

BTW, if there's any way you can somehow bet the under on Fouls called on UK this weekend, do it. Put the mortgage on it. Kentucky will finish next game with a much more favorable whistle, almost guaranteed.

Numbers don’t lie, they are just skewed by abnormalities. You can measure averages and then stack them up against your numbers.

I applaud Pope for trying to address the issue but how do you apply analytics to UK getting the short end of the stick with officiating for the last 30 years or so just because Kentucky is on the front of the jersey

UK has been getting screwed by the refs well before fall 2009.

And I think this can absolutely help. What it does it puts pressure on the NCAA. They are going to have to put a call in, somewhere from some office, that the calls on UK need to ease up. Because if they don't, this is just more ammo for Pope and UK. The NCAA is now kind of backed into a corner.

Yeah, I agree, I been watching 40 years +. But it seemed really bad under Cal sometimes, I was hoping it’d move on but UGA game was pretty bad IMO.

People wonder why we lost, we looked bad yes but officiating plays a large part in it.

We have to learn how to guard without fouling too. This team is really handsy. In Rupp, we get the benefit, but on the road we won't. This isn't the Mountain West. Pope needs to teach the guys how to defend without getting caught by the refs.
