That's an understatement if asking "why" is how short the fuse is.
My guess is he called the 2nd T, not because of what he said, but because Cal went down and got in his face. I don't even think he did it as a challenging move but he got pretty close. But either way it was still a chicken s--- call. I don't know what Cal said to deserve the first one but if Sirmons' fuse is so short, he's going to call two quick technicals for THAT, he doesn't need to be reffing on the big stage.
The refs that day permitted two swings taken in full view. That's why they shouldn't be refs. Calipari's reaction (I think) was pure theater. On the other hand, permitting two swings was pure negligence.
I don't post very often, but I was watching the radio sync replay. At 26:20ish the live broadcast goes to commercial and replays the second technical called. To me it seems like Cal just says "Hey, why?" then Sirmons T's him up and that's when Cal goes ballistic.
If you've watched other replays of the confrontation, you'll see call fairly calmly walks over to him, then from what I can tell from the other angle asks him why.
If that's the case, no wonder Cal lost it and not that Sirmons had any respect before that, totally blows it out of the water now.

Similar thing happened at Rupp a year or two ago with Roger Ayers. He was on the opposite side of the court, Cal wasn't talking to or looking at him, and he sprinted across the court to give Cal a T. I think Cal rubs some of the refs the wrong way and they stick it to him whenever they can.
