SI has Cats #7 in another Way Too Early Top 25

Good luck to you.

You obviously like your team.

I like mine too.

We will see if Lee, Fland, and Brown can replace Clayton and company.

If it’s the players, they will struggle. If it’s all about the system, you’ll be fine.
They will for sure be very good but Clayton will be damn near impossible to replace even with an equally talented guard. He was playing on another level the last month of the year.

Doesn’t matter. It’s the system. It’s all about Golden.
You're right, the system is pretty good. That's why they've had their starting PG make 1st Team All-SEC the past 2 years. If it was just about Clayton, how in the hell did Zyon Pullin make All-SEC? Or did Golden put those kids in situations to maximize their talent?

Nobody is doubting Clayton was special, but Golden did just win the NC with a Washington State transfer, an FAU transfer, Clayton, a Belmont Transfer and two sophomores that weren't highly recruited coming out of HS.

If it wasn't the about the system at all and all of these kids were so highly thought of, why was UF picked to finish like 7th or 8th in the SEC?

I wasn’t talking to you.

Take your worship of the “Golden” Boy back over to the Gators board.

Come back when you’ve got 8 titles.

Then we’ll talk.

The people in the rankings are going all in on Fland being a stud. I like the Ivy League PG, but we all know he is not Clayton. Their max will depend on how good Boogie plays.

College basketball in general will be down, in terms of how many good teams, and that will help UConn.

We shall see but he is a good coach. We all know how hard a title is to win. He may never make another title game, it’s rough out here.
The thing I wonder is if Golden is all that like a lot of people are saying, how long until he moves on to the NBA? He’s really young and the lure of the big lights could be just too much, especially with the kind of money they can throw around.

Cue the Gator fans with the “he won’t leave, he has it made in Gainesville” rhetoric.

If Golden goes to the NBA, he can't stalk coeds.

Lol, I apologize for commenting on a message board. Ah yes, keep beating your chest about championships won 70 years ago.

This quickly became a “Florida Gators” thread.
I think Florida will be very good, though I don’t see it matching the skill of its recent title team. Clayton is, arguably, the best player in program history. That isn’t easy to replace without skipping a beat.

Thank You!

Finally a UF fan that is rational.

Yeah I didn’t understand why a lot of people on this board wanted Lee. I was not one of them.

Xaivian Lee is rated higher than Jaland Lowe on both on3 and 247 transfer PG rankings also. He's a good PG and shot 36.6% from 3pt this past year.

Here's the SEC PG transfers:

247 PG rankings: #5 Gillespie, #6 Dedan Thomas, #7 Lee, #8 Xzayier Brown, #10 Lowe, #11 Pack, #12 Isaacs, #26 Collins
(Fland was #1 among CG for some reason, Aberdeen is #6 for reference)

On3 PG rankings - #3 Fland, #5 Gillespie, #7 Thomas, #9 Lee, #10 Brown, #10 Pack, #12 Isaacs, #13 Lowe, #33 Collins

I like Lowe and he fits way better for us imo. He is also a junior and may come back next year. We have a lot of flux with our roster. Could go Chandler, could go Jasper Johnson. Could go Aberdeen. Other schools are mostly set with the main starters already, like Florida.

There's no doubt that the SEC got some good PGs this go around. Dedan Thomas and Xzayvier Brown are being underrated too. Plus the Bama schools got Philon and Pettiford back.

Honestly most Florida fans will tell you they expect him to make the jump to the NBA in a couple years. Anyone understands that a coaches ultimate goal is the NBA and should be happy for him if he gets the opportunity.

He isn’t a UF fan

He has said he is in the past.

I like Lowe better for us, because he has played P5 level basketball.

Now one could argue that going from the ACC to the SEC is a big step up, but the ACC was still ahead of the Ivy League.

I like Lee and Fland as a backcourt, but the issue is:

1. They are new to the system and are replacing a second year guy (Clayton) and a third year guy (Richard).

2. They haven’t played together for two years like Clayton and Richard did.

3. They have very little experience in the backcourt with them to help them adjust. Klavzar is the top returning guard and was fifth in a basically four man rotation.

Now, the frontcourt is a different story. It should be one of the best if not the best in the country.

But the guards are the major question mark.

I am not questioning how good the guards are, but merely stating that the guards last year were incredibly talented and incredibly experienced, especially within their system.

That is hard to replace, especially with wholesale replacements across the board.

Losing Aberdeen is going to hurt more than they think, IMHO.

They will be missing that experience that he would have brought to the table.

UF fans sound like bitter UK fans when talking about Aberdeen. “We don’t need him.” “We didn’t want him to stay anyway.” “Much rather have Lee and Fland. They are an upgrade.”

LOL!
