You can't deny Self's accomplishment in his league and Kansas has done OK in the tourney, but nothing special.
For me the point of the article should have been that college basketball for the elite teams is all about recruiting. Kentucky has its success by getting elite high school players and Kansas by stealing players from other programs
Seriously, it is all about getting the elite players and how long they stay. Teams that have won the National Championship have all had some senior or experienced leadership. But, that leadership has to be combined with elite talent. How you get that talent is what it is all about.
