I'm gonna have to admit it: having a coach who the refs don't hate is going to be a nice upgrade. Cal probably cost us at least three tourney losses because of his relationship to the referee community (2011, 2014, 2017).

You are correct, if it was a coin flip call, we wouldn’t get the call. Many times our guys would be fouled hard and they wouldn’t even look to see if it was a Flagrant foul, but if they had a chance to get a Flagrant foul on our guys they looked every time.
I don’t care what kind of relationship Cal had with them that 2017 screw job should’ve gotten people axed. That was blatant cheating.

Frankly, we’ve gotten really lucky so far that our pace of play has been this fast. Because I haven’t heard a single peep from Pope after a defensive rebound on how fast our guys should get down the court. Freaking Charlie Chaplin wannabe over on the sideline just sitting silent. If on the next broadcast, I don’t hear an absurdly loud scream after 90% of rebounds to alert players to move it along (or maybe “GOOO”), I’m probably done with Pope.

It was blatant cheating paired with blatant coaching stupidity. Obviously, trashing refs even if earned is never a smart thing to do. I have been there and done that. I quickly realized that I was hurting my team by constantly spatting with the refs. Bad officiating typically goes both ways and if you control your urge to trash them, it will probably balance out.
