Shooters??

33% and 32%, respectively, so hopefully we won't be relying on them.
Small sample sizes mean low %'s or high %'s may not necessarily be representative of "the true %".

I think we all know Perry can shoot. But he was in a tough spot, being asked to play a role (PG) as a FR that he wasn't ready for (more of a SG).
Noah went ice cold the last month, but he was one of our best shooters the first half of SEC play. And I really like his form.
But regardless, neither will play much next year. At most Noah gets 5-6mpg, Perry 1-2. I think their JR year, Noah is in the rotation.

Where are the shooters??

Do we have a realistic chance at landing Wesley Yates (3P% 43.9)? If not, who??
Yates shot 28% from 3 in high school. Dont be concerned how some of our current players and incoming transfers shot from a % standpoint last year. In Popes system we will have shooters

So what is better a player with 1 year left in Pierre who may provide more instantly or a player with 3 years of eligibility in Yates that could have potential long term dividends?

Actually 34%, but who's counting. He shot horribly from deep during the season (27.8%), but did get hot during the tournament.

Hopefully he can gain some consistency and improve his shooting next year. I see Chandler as more of a slasher, but that doesn't mean he can't/won't be a threat shooting.
Actually 35%, I am counting. 17/49=34.7 which when written with no decimals is 35%

I think Yates likely only says 1 year no matter where he goes. I would imagine he's off to the NBA after that.

He finished 35% for the year but started only 4/24 when he was shaking off the rust of 2 years away from basketball. He then shot 13/25 over the last 10 games, showing very good form and great range. I don't expect 50% sustained over a season at volume, but I do expect an improvement on the 35% average.
He only post negative shit, ignore him. He shot the 3 pretty damn good at the end of year

The NBA 3-point percentage average is 36-37 percent. Those are the best players in the world and shooting is at a premium now in the NBA more than ever. College is a couple percentage points below that.

UK fans have gotten spoiled with Reed and Brea the last two years. Those guys don't come around often.

Those are basically the top shooters currently in the portal. I think Yates (as of now) seems to be the player Pope's staff has the most chatter with.
Alex Chaikin (Lafayette) shot 47.9% shooter from 3 this year (his freshman season), averaging about 14 pts per game. He's also 6'5
Rodney Rice (Maryland) shot the 3 at 37% this year, he's currently a sophomore, 6'4 shooter and handles it. But maybe likely to follow Willard to Nova?
Malik Thomas (San Fran) shot it at 40% this year, he's played 4 years of college hoops, 6'5 so has some length

They won’t be freshman next season. They also will have a specific role, especially Travis, and that is to make jumpers. So, I expect those percentages to go up.
33% from 3 is the same as 50% from 2. 4 out of 12 from 3 = 12pts. 6 out of 12 from 2 =12pts. A little more comfortability and skills practice should improve Noah and Perry to above 33% from 3 point territory, but 33% is NOT terrible, only average.

Jasper shot 36.3% at OTE on 6.2 attempts per game
Acaden lewis is at 33% career on 2.4 attempts per game at Sidwell Friends. Only showing 9 games played as a senior... not sure why.

we have enough shooters. florida just won a championship by going into the post basically every play. we should ape that strategy
I honestly don’t know where you’re getting that Florida was primarily a post up team. They took almost 44% of their field goal attempts this year from 3, a number they more or least maintained in the tournament, and players listed as guards on their roster took about 78% of their total field goal attempts. The worst shooters of the four guards that got regular minutes were Martin and Aberdeen each at 35% from 3.

We might be able to roughly replicate that if we get a best case scenario out of all the guards currently on our roster, but I wouldn’t necessarily blame anyone for thinking we have some question marks about our outside shooting as it stands now.

I meant in the game against houston -- they kept going in every time and scored (practically) at will.
