Shaq Admits LSU "Paid Very Well," Wants His Son to Play There

I'm sure Cal had something to do with Shaq getting paid. I can see the headline now: "Shaq and Cal Once in Same Building During LSU Days"

What is the statute of limitations?

The c) exception below is open to interpretation. The NCAA, if it had the will, could use c) to roll into LSU and give that program a proctology exam.

19.5.11 statute of Limitations. Allegations included in a notice of allegations shall be limited to possible violations occurring not earlier than four years before the date the notice of inquiry is provided to the institution or the date the institution notifies (or, if earlier, should have notified) the enforcement staff of its inquiries into the matter. However, the following shall not be subject to the four-year limitation: (Adopted: 10/30/12 effective 8/1/13)
(a) Allegations involving violations affecting the eligibility of a current student-athlete;
(b) Allegations in a case in which information is developed to indicate a pattern of willful violations on the part of the institution or individual involved, which began before but continued into the four-year period; and
(c) Allegations that indicate a blatant disregard for the Association’s fundamental recruiting, extra benefit, academic or ethical-conduct bylaws or that involve an effort to conceal the occurrence of the violation. In such cases, the enforcement staff shall have a one-year period after the date information concerning the matter becomes available to the NCAA to investigate and submit to the institution a notice of allegations concerning the matter.

Man, what is the point of him doing this? It's not like anyone is surprised. I would be pissed if I was an LSU fan or had anything to do with LSU.

Read that book that led to Blue Chips and what Shaq says, kidding or not, is not surprising. They called John Williams "the Louisiana Purchase".

Way to immediately attach a stigma and potential investigation on your kid.

this is a non story for the most part. Not gonna lead to anything.
Agreed, but what it could do is lead to an investigation regarding similar practices still happening today. Anyone ever wonder why in the world some of these players have ended up at LSU in recent years? It may have stopped after Dale Brown left town but may have resumed under Johnny Jones. Why in the world would anyone want to play for Johnny Jones? Sorry if that's offensive, but I just don't get it. This would start to make sense now.

People said the same about Cal and Memphis.
Ben Simmons godfather is associate head coach at LSU.
People forget that jones was the interim coach at Memphis before Cal took the job. There is a lot of salt between the two. People have said that jones negative recruits especially against Cal

I'm pretty sure Shaq's kid doesn't need a few hundred (or K) of pocket money.

I've met Johnny Jones' brother before and they don't like Cal. That's no big news because of the Memphis connection, just was funny to see his brother admit it.

Honestly I think Cal is one of those coaches that most coaches hate. And I'm ok with that. Now the difference is that most coaches respect Cal and Cal has mutual respect for them.

The story (if true) that MJ shared a few months ago regarding another coach complaining about Cal getting his players and insinuating that he is cheating, showed how Cal deals with those whom he doesn't respect, because they don't respect him. Really funny actually.

Looking over the list of past NCAA champions. I do not see LSU listed, was that a misprint? They did not win with Shaq, They did not win with Rudy Macklin and they are not going to win with Ben Simmons.

One of my favorite Bob Knight quotes was, "we were playing LSU in the NCAA tourney and I looked down at their bench and saw Dale Brown, I knew then we had a chance to win."
