People calling him boring wish they could average around 30 a game in the NBA for 3 straight years. I love watching his level of being precise. That's what kobe did, get to his spot and make you pay.

He’s one of the most deliberate and cerebral players I’ve ever seen play. It really seems like he’s watching everything in slow motion, or sees the future 10 seconds before it happens.

I didn't mean "boring" in the sense of the word, but boring because he is such a tactician. No high flying dunks, no yapping, no hot dogging, just straight to the point business, and never gets sped up or rattled. Like I said, most assassins are boring, but they are deadly. What makes it even more remarkable, he is not a great 3 point shooter and doesn't shoot a ton of them per game.
Kobe had flair, talked a lot of shit (backed it Up), would put someone on a poster, shot selection was questionable at times. He and SGA are NOT alike. Kobe also had a mean streak and would welcome confrontation, even would seek it out at times. SGA is more workmanlike and doesn't try to show up his opponent. Both great, but take different ways to get there.

I low key love that he fired his agent this past week, and I guess the main reason was because he knew he was about to get a supermax, no matter what, and he figured "What do I need an agent for?".

i think he will get MVP based on the talk around him even though it was kind of like that last year. Chet going down and OKC hasn’tmissing a beat helps his case .

Crazy thing is Shai season is great but you could easily make a case for Jokic winning an again .

Wow, I didn't know that about him being committed to Florida. Crazy that that 2018 team was our last SEC TOURNAMENT WINNER.

About PJ not hitting free throws, we also let them get up 13-0 before Cal called a timeout. Spent the rest of the game playing catch-up and briefly took the lead a couple times. Not bashing SGA at all but on our most crucial possession he jumped in the air without a plan and threw it right to K State. He did everything for us and I felt bad for him going out that way. But dude is way better than I thought he'd be and I thought he'd be pretty good.

Cal drawing up that last second shot from 35 feet out from Quade Green after forcing the ball to PJ over and over again even though he was completely in his head with missing FTs while SGA was hanging out when we lost to Bruce Weber in the sweet 16 after the bracket completely opened up for us was a stroke of genius.

I didn't say you were calling him boring, and the only comparison I was making with kobe was getting to their spot and knowing that one there they can score. Young kobe flew by for dunks but he won 2 titles with getting to his spot turning and making the shot. That's the only part of their games that are similar. Both brought smart defensive play as well though slightly different approach

Not really. Green still somehow took the biggest shot of the season in the loss to Kansas St and then stayed around until he lost his job in '19 to Hot Rod Hagans. Imagine having a team in '18 that had SGA, Knox--who was excellent for UK, Washington who carried them in game despite a FT display that was Nick Anderson like (must be something about wearing #25), and Quade Green decides "WTF--let it fly".

low volume but he shot 40% here. He could shoot it. But he was probably pushing close to 60% at the rim and 82% from the free throw line. So might as well drive it at that point. Get points AND cause foul trouble on the other team.

I watched him win the 3pt contest at the derby festival too.

To your point though, i certainly wouldn’t have called him a shooter. But he could shoot it.

That wasn't drawn up.....and I'm fine with being critical of Cal's disaster of running 1-4 sets late in games and letting guards make decisions-but Quade was in full "Hero Ball" mode. Quade was the fat kid who lost weight and played like a slow fat kid. Which is exactly what he was as a prospect. The decision to chase Bamba thinking Green was the key and a lunch with Bill Clinton in Harlem was the big "move" ended up flopping. Bamba chose Shaka Smart selling him on his name on a building in Austin over lunch with an ex-President on the impression meter.

Also Trae Young had committed to Kentucky on his in-home--but family was turned off by UK wanting him to go to Montverde Academy and this I don't blame Cal-he had a smart suggestion. If you are unsure of him being away from "home"-try a Prep School-you can evaluate things and see how you want to go about it. Well they made the decision to not wait things out--Green committed and rest is history. If Young signed--you could've still had SGA and likely land Richards and Vanderbilt but likely not Washington/Knox.

SGA is awesome. Thing when I watch OKC as currently constructed....I just don't see an NBA Finals team or Champion. Maybe I'm just way off and have lost touch with the sport/NBA completely which does happen as we age. That being said, they feel like the "Hipster's Hoop Wet Dream Team" and something is missing. Have SGA and a bunch of guys who give off the look like gag reflux choke artists around him. A lot of "experts" around that franchise and in player scouting department. I remember the last time OKC was an "eventual" Dynasty and next thing you know their team blew up after getting manhandled by the Heat and infamous choke job against the Warriors.

SGA is awesome. Thing when I watch OKC as currently constructed....I just don't see an NBA Finals team or Champion. Maybe I'm just way off and have lost touch with the sport/NBA completely which does happen as we age. That being said, they feel like the "Hipster's Hoop Wet Dream Team" and something is missing. Have SGA and a bunch of guys who give off the look like gag reflux choke artists around him. A lot of "experts" around that franchise and in player scouting department. I remember the last time OKC was an "eventual" Dynasty and next thing you know their team blew up after getting manhandled by the Heat and infamous choke job against the Warriors.

If Holmgren stays healthy they absolutely can, but I would like to see them add a dynamic wing and then they would be pretty unstoppable. Someone like a Mikal Bridges type player.
