Seth Greenberg: three or four Big 12 teams could advance to Final Four

Name the last b12 team other than KU to make the final 4.

Not an outrageous statement. All he was saying was that 3 or 4 B12 teams had the potential to make the FF, not that the FF will consist of 3 or 4 B12 teams. Kansas, OU, WVU, ISU are all capable.

Oklahoma and Buddy Hield will be a tough out and I believe they are final four calibre, I am a little biased for Coach Prohm he married my friends daughter so I will hope he makes it to final four, and I believe he has a team that can do it, Kansas does have the potential but past history tells me they will be home watching on TV.

Nobody knows who will be in the final four, including seth greenberg. But, he gets paid to talk about basketball. Occasionally, he will say somethings that others don't agree with, but it's better than staring at a blank screen during halftime. BTW, when was the last time you talked to anyone you agreed with 100% of the time?

Oklahoma is the best team I've seen this year. They have the best player in the country and a group of guys that have been playing with each other for years. They were robbed worse than us at AFH, and their only other loss is at Iowa State. I predict they win the B12 and they are my pick at the favorite to win it all.

Two teams are usually surprises - I get Oklahoma and maybe Iowa State. Kansas? No chance on a neutral court with Self at the helm.

Based on results the last two years they better hope they get two teams in the Sweet16. Lots of bids and very few results.

LOL at this thread.

All he said was that there are 3-4 Big 12 teams who could potentially make the final four. Never said the Final Four would consist of that many Big 12 teams.

People look for any random thing said to start a thread about.

If Hield is cold Oklahoma will go home early..He won the game at LSU and was the reason they played KU tough...He will be under a lot of pressure in the NCAAT..

What did Cal say to Greenberg Saturday night? Guys who couldn't make it as coaches all of a sudden know everything.

This year is so wide open that anything can happen. I think OU, Iowa State, and KU all have a good chance to make it, depending on their draw of course. It's very likely that they will all be in different regions. So, if there ever was a year for it to happen, it's this season. Still unlikely to have 3 or 4 though. I could see 2 making it a lot more.

Well lets see if the committee screws the BIG12 like they do the SEC on a consistent basis. How many times did they put 2 SEC teams in the same bracket when only 3 or 4 made it?
Couple years ago there were three SEC teams in the NCAAT and if Tennessee had beaten Michigan they would have played UK.
Now I realize they won't have a choice, they will need to put more than one B12 team in each bracket since most of the 10 teams will make it but you better believe they won't be putting any of their top 4 teams in the same bracket, they will spread them out.

Someone said it earlier, and I agree 0 Big 12 teams make the F4.

Oklahoma is one cold shooting night from losing to anyone.

Kansas - HA! No home cooking in NCAAs.

Iowa St - good at home, not so much in tough games away. They will last to the second weekend, but first tough game and I think they fold.

WVU - Really? Any team with two ball handlers will smash them like Florida did

Texas will surprise someone, but not all the way to the end.

Just my two cents...

Everybody keeps saying OU will be out if they shoot cold. Pretty much applies to every team. Nobody has a team that can carry them through 6 games without playing well.

Typically teams that lack a balance in offense and defense don't do well in the tournament.

Iowa St. 8th in offense but 54th in defense
WVU - 6th in defense but 39th in offense
Kansas - 15th in offense but 39th in defense|
Baylor - 14th in offense but 95th in defense

Oklahoma - 3rd in offense 22nd in defense

There's alot of good teams in the Big 12 but really OU I would say is the only one that really separates themselves from the pack. Not that the others can't make the final four but if I had to bet on one B12 it be OU

This is true tho the thing that really surprises me is this about their offense
Rank 8th in shooting.

However
110th in turnover %
139th in offensive rebounding %
288th in Free throw rate.

It's kinda surprising to me that a team that ranks overall 3rd in offensive efficiency only ranks in the top 100 in one of the four categories.

Obviously this hasn't affected them too much this season and even if they did have a cold shooting night, they have a very good defense to fall back on but I wonder if this means they are more reliant on good shooting than some other teams.

The interesting thing with Oklahoma is that I am not sure LSU is really that good a team. Yes, home court really helped LSU, but they almost beat Oklahoma and is LSU a top 20 team?

Therefore, I agree with those that view this year as wide open. However, almost every final four historically each year mainly involves the name teams. There is some unexpected upsets, quite a few, early on during the NCAA tourney but by the end it is the well known ones that remain for at least 3 of the final four participants.

I agree with this. You only have to look at who's won the past 16 years Usually in the end, the big schools are left remaining.

He'd have been better off to say "I could see 3 or 4 different Big 12 teams possibly making it to a Final Four," NOT "We could see 3 or 4 Big 12 teams in the Final Four." There won't be 3 or 4 Big 12 teams in the Final Four but there are 3 or 4 teams from that conference who, given the right matchups, having guys step up, and getting some breaks along the way, could make it. They just won't all happen at once.

I think most of us were able to determine what he meant without him giving the breakdown.

I feel the Big 12 has 3 legit teams that could make the final four. More than any other conference, anyway.

so these three teams are in pretty good shape
