Seth Greenberg on KSR in a few minutes

I tuned in at 10:00 but the guys on there have only been talking about having dinner with a woman that's not their wife...Nothing about sports. Did the Bachelor TV series take over that time slot?

I'm not a MJ hater but come on Matt...that's pitiful.

  • Thought Cal did an incredible job coaching the team this season. Broke the season into 3 different phases. Could see the progress. Praised the team.
  • Wasn't sure if they put so much energy into the UCLA game, that he wasn't sure if that played a role in the UNC loss.
  • Said ppl don't realize how difficult it is to do what Cal has done, and that he does it better than anybody, re: coaching frosh.
  • On to the officiating ...
  • Said the officiating in the 1st half was bad, but the outrage is unacceptable.
  • Said the outrage is more about the history with Higgins, more so than any particular calls.
  • Said it's a bad look for UK fans.
  • Keeps going on about how UK fans look bad now
  • Talked to 3 final four refs yesterday. Said that those guys all said that what UK fans are doing, happens all the time. (So, why do UK fans look bad is my question?)
  • Says he is close with Calipari and does not have an agenda.
  • Admits that the media has an agenda, and is not objective, and he has a problem with that. Says that is why he isn't well liked among them either, but that they're a joke.
That's about it. Nothing worth listening to. Find it a bit disingenuous that he says UK fans look bad over this, but then goes on to act like it's a common occurrence.

I like Seth. I think the guy is honest in his opinion which he admits is just that his opinion. He admitted many in the national media have agendas. Liked hearing that and somewhat felt it was a shot at Bilas (with the duke slurping)...

Seth just said he talked to 3 different refs working the Final Four this week, all 3 said they've received death threats from different fanbases throughout the country from regular season games (not season ending games) and that it's not something unique to Kentucky fans despite how the sports media is portraying it. One (non-UK) fan sent one of the refs a picture of the refs house, implying the guy knew where he lived and could attack him there anytime he wanted. But, UK fans are the only ones called on this stuff by the national sports media... strange, huh?

Definitely backed off his narrative from satellite radio a couple of days ago. He was much more definitive in his response there. Sounded to me like he needed to tone it down a bit. About what I expected.

Thanks. I only caught the tail end of it. Jones is now back to talking about having dinner and adultery.

We look bad because writers and commentators have done their best to make it sound like this is something that only happens at Kentucky. That's the objective, and a few idiots gave them an opening to make that the story.

I think the part about 3 Final Four refs confirming they've been threatened by non-UK fans over regular season games is important. They just weren't drama queens about it like Higgins, the NCAA, Forde & O'Neil, who have an agenda to make non-serious threats the story instead of his lousy officiating.

Matt has been told by his handlers to diffuse the situation. This dinner talk with women is comlpetely out of context coming from a spinster like Matt Jones.

I really like Matt, and KSR. Wife has even gotten to where she enjoys his show. That said, this bachelor and bachelorette stuff is not entertaining at all.

Nonsense BBN. You guys are great! This trashing of UK, UK fans, etc..is ridiculous. I took the comments from Seth regarding the other officials to be a shot at Higgins--like "who is this clown to make himself bigger then anyone else"--maybe I'm missing Seth's point, but that's how I took that commentary.

You guys got screwed-by a "character"--and I use that because "characters" appear in movies and you know what they are about--and low and behold the outcome of said character follows pattern. Higgins is awful. He's bad at officiating and for him to go forth with a cry for help because of a small group of people who can't take their frustrations out or handle them properly is to me as pathetic as those doing the stupid harassment.

You never judge fans by one encounter or incident. And when people have a point, it's always easier to try and cover up the truth by embellishing an incident to make the scumball, the misunderstood, underappreciated, "victim". So we get this story this week to defuse the FACTS--which you all have visual proof and support from a man who has worked in the industry (Greenberg).

Never support anyone who would cross a line and make it personal but I also don't think the bigger story should be shoved aside. If Higgins was that distraught by said threats--he sure as hell wouldn't be working on a stage/platform as large as the Final Four. He just wanted to turn tables and has his supporters who are doing their PR and it's a joke. Predict not many will even know about this story as I expect this Final Four to be the least watched in history (maybe I'm wrong but feel pretty strongly that opening Semifinal game will get less viewers then UK-UNC last week).

It doesn't really matter if it happens all the time or not it's not appropriate. As my mom would say 2 wrongs don't make a right. Just because Alabama, Auburn, Kansas, etc do it doesn't mean we should or that it's okay.
