Still haven't seen CRod.

Also has no idea he lost his mom who had lupus 3 weeks ago. Never saw it mentioned anywhere.

My condolences to him and his family, and I hope he actually gets some carries today. Really hope he wasn't injured in practices. Anyone heard anything?

6 carries, 27 yards, fumble recovered by defense.

Malik Cunningham wearing an upside down UK logo on his helmet during practice giving up a pick 6, failing to stop the defender at the goal line, and getting injured on the play.

CRod's "fumble" was on the QB who stumbled coming out from under C and stuck the ball in CRod's side.

UK beat his ass so much he probably never saw it right side up.

You gotta be kidding. I was watching earlier and they said he was sick on Tuesday and missed some practice too. Swear he must have the worst luck, it seems he's either sick or injured all the time.

To his credit he did have a fantastic 2nd quarter though.

Hate it for him he lost his mom and wish him all the best in his nfl quest. Doesn’t sit well with me though that he would play in this meaningless bowl game after sitting out ours.

I get your point and hate all the opt outs but the senior bowl is for draft status and C Rods is up in the air it didn't hurt him to show up in front of a bunch of NFL scouts

Sorry but not sure how a bowl like this is going to help or hurt anyones draft status. For Sr bowl invitees they have already had minimally 30-45 games for which to be judged for their capabilities, one such game several months before the draft takes place is not going to make a difference IMO. However tearing your ACL would make a big difference. If your going to sit out a meaningless bowl game for fear of injury then at least stay consistent.

The entire week is ran by nfl coaching staffs and attended by all 32 teams. Not sure how its hard to understand the value in that.

The entire week isn't just about prepping for the game. They are evaluating the players for work in different looks and schemes to see how they adapt and excel in them. Most of these players have seen 2 schemes at most during their college career. This opens a whole different level for them to be evaluated on.

Fewer snaps. More eval. Working out full time to prepare for the combine. Getting real direct feedback from NFL personnel. I was disappointed he didn't play in the bowl game, but I'm over it. I still don't think we win the game with him playing. The game plan was sht.

It worked out for the best that he didnt play in Nashville. Getting to spend time with his mother and family must have been really huge considering what happened.

As others have said, the physical practice and game is probably the least of their concern, like you said they have plenty of tape on that. And others have said this already but they want to get to know the players, how quick they pick up on things, are they a team guy or a cancer.

Scouts get to see them practice in a pro system all week against good comp. A lot of guys get a bump from the senior bowl. Doing well in practice all week is more valuable than the game.

Luke Fortner was one that greatly improved his status in last year's game. Should clarify what I meant: It was the week of practice that greatly influenced Fortner's position in the draft. He benefitted tremendously.

thanks for all the feedback. I have honestly never paid attention to the Sr Bowl and didn’t realize all what goes on leading into the game itself. Still disappointed when any player opts out of a bowl game but definitely see the benefit for players to participate in the Sr Bowl with how it’s described.

Couldn’t agree more with this post!!! It’s FLAT OUT BULLSHIT to play in this shitty senior bowl game and sit out your schools bowl game! Flat out no excuse for that shit!

Was my initial thought as well but was oblivious to all that surrounded the Sr. Bowl game. Thought it was nothing more than just another game for Sr’s to try and impress the scouts which it appears it is but also a lot more to it as well which others have outlined in the thread. Makes a lot more sense to me why he would/should have chose to play in it.

I still don’t understand however if your not going to complete the season by participating in your teams bowl game why continue playing the regular season games when you have been eliminated from the major bowl picture. Even the major bowl games are meaningless compared to one’s potential pro career. Just seems odd to me that a player will play in 12 CFB games for 3 or 4 years and then say that’s it I’m done, can’t risk injury in that one final game as it’s meaningless.

Some people are superstitious and some play the odds. If youre playing the odds, and you've gone a good many football games without injury, the likelihood of you getting an injury on the next snap increases quite a bit. Works the same in the superstitious mind.

We don't know the whole story, but he could've wanted to spend time with his mom/family in there as well because of her condition. We just don't know. For whatever reason, he was prompted to sit out the bowl game with Iowa. We can choose to dwell on it, or move on and be happy for him going forward.

I'm of the same mind as you regarding quitting on your teammates and such, and I hope others aren't quitting like some have the last 2 years, but we have to stop dwelling on it at some point. If we expect to be forgiven, we must forgive. If we don't know the whole story, neither should we judge.

If I knew for a fact a player just gave up on the season and played like crap for us on purpose, that's a different can of worms.

That last part of sitting out wasn’t directed at CROD but all players who go through the full regular season and then bail on the bowl. If there is any sense to be made, it would be the length of time between their last regular season game and the bowl game that gets played which is typically a month or longer. That’s a long time in between full contact which could make injury more susceptible.

The majority of the attendees are in the marginal category as far as draft status goes. The practice is where most of the evaluations take place. That’s why these games are important to those players.
