One of my all-time favorite threads
You guys do know I posted that right after he fumbled on the 2 yard line and they brought it back for a TD almost costing the game?
But I guess all the self righteous posters who keep bringing this thread back up have never said anything in the heat of the moment that they later regret.

If I'm watching a game from home for whatever reason and I get up disgusted in the first few minutes with what I am seeing on the field or court, my wife chants "fair weather fan, fair weather fan," and it makes me feel 6 inches tall, lol.
Saying it to buddy vs. taking the time to post, for all to know your thoughts ....are two different things
Angrily in person? Yes. Angrily on a message board that will be documented for as long as the internet exists? No.
Especially a tirade that so egregiously butchers a player's name. Never text, make decisions, call, or post on a ruthless message board when you're angry or upset.
Always take a deep breath and count to 10 slowly before hitting "Post Reply"
El Gato Calvo, I have brought it up, more than once, and not out of "self-righteousness," but for the humor shown by the responses. And also the simple fact that Johnson rose above such (very real) obscurity to lead us to a bowl game.
Seriously, if I had started the thread (and most of us given the right circumstances could have) I would be showing it to friends and family, now, and having "Smith" tee shirts printed up, for the fun of it. And I'm very serious about that . . . . sports is about having fun, and a little self-deprecation is the funniest form of humor.
You should have come back on the next day, and joined in with a "I meant 'Jones' you picky biatches," or some such.
Why not approach the mods to do an "El Gato" contest for nicknaming players, at a buck a throw for Hurricane Marvin relief, or something like that.
Ease up on us, and yourself, or I'll start calling you "El Gato Calfo (Smith)."

Let's be fair. Autocorrect would do that and a person wouldn't even notice the subtle change until it was too late.
