Selection Monday

Henderson was a former National Assistant Coach of the year before coming to UK. Henderson may not be a very good head coach but I guarantee you he knows just as much about baseball as Burke. Chris Burke has absolutely no experience recruiting, putting together a line up, in game management, dealing with egos, etc, but this is the guy you want coaching an SEC team?

It blows my mind that people think Andy Green or Chris Burke will be the next head coach at UK. NOT GOING TO HAPPEN.

Of course Andy Green isn't going to be the next UK coach, he has a little job coaching the San Diego Padres. Not as big time as UK, but he will just have to wait it out I guess. :weary:

I've seen multiple posts on here that say Green would actually leave San Diego for UK

I don't get it... convince me Burke would be a good hire. I know his credentials as a player but has the guy even coached baseball at a level higher than high school?
Wow ! more activity on this board tonight than I can remember. Another year with no NCAA invite, are you watching and listening Mitch ? Funny story about Chris Burke, his final 2 teams were UT and Notre Dame, when he picked UT, and told the St, X principal, a big ND fan, the principal slapped him right across the face, and then wished him well. lol. I do not know if he would be a good HC or not, but he is very astute as far as the game.
Actually, I don't believe Henderson is going to be canned, he will get 1 more year IMO.

He has a lot of love for Kentucky and UK, but only if he were to be fired. He has done pretty well considering the roster, or lack of, in SD !
If things don't work out in SD I see him becoming a bench coach or going back to the minors to manage. I just can't ever see him coaching at the college level.

Deal with it? Lol I bet you felt real tough after typing that. Someone challenged your thinking because your thinking is incompetent. Deal with it.

Criticizing UL as a 2 seed is not incompetent. If you don't want to talk about UL, you should have just moved on. You've added nothing to the conversation.

You know this for a fact ? Henderson had no HC experience, he got hired. If you have watched or listened to any Sec games, which I doubt, you would learn that he is knowledgble in all facets of the game, he is very personable, unlike Hendo. He played for Rod Delmonico, an outstanding coach at UT. He was Sec player of the year in 2001, a 3 time AA, and played for 6 or 7 years in the Big leagues. He would of course have to hire a staff, but I am sure he could do fine at that. Also, being an Sec color analyst he has been around the Floridas, LSU's, A&M's to see how the Big Boys do things. He may or may not be interested, but there are others who could fill the bill, as I have posted several times in the past few weeks.

I don't know if he would be good or bad or what, but I know that many UK fans and many UT fans want him as their head coach. He might be excellent. 7 or 8 years ago when Serrano was hired he allegedly interviewed for the UT job. If he really wanted to be an SEC head coach I think he should have decided to pad his coaching resume with either an assistant position or taken a lesser head coaching position. Instead, he stayed in broadcasting. I don't blame him for his decisions, but nothing makes him really qualified to be an SEC head coach. Yes, he had an illustrious career playing the game, but that doesn't really make him qualified to coach it. Every high level player knows a ton about baseball, but that doesn't mean they will be able to put that to use and become great coaches.

Of course, this is all just speculation about Burke. He may be the next big thing as a head coach. If he is then I hope it is for us and not for UT.

Will go ahead and post this here instead of starting a new thread. My story on whether UK should consider making a change after missing the tournament again.

I think 6 out of 8 years not making the tournament and the losing records since April 10th indicate how the teams have actually gotten worse under Henderson instead of "leveled out". I know you didn't want to be overly critical in the article but if this had been our Men's Basketball Program, would anything close to this be acceptable? :uzi:

Not sure you have seen that - he may get fired, then leave professional baseball for college is what has been posted. But I don't think the timing will be right - SD will probably keep him longer than when we need to make a hire.
