Our margin of error is razor thin and we are down top 2 PGs.... not good... that will bite any team in the ass more often than not... it's unsustainable.
We have beaten only one unranked P4 team on our schedule.... Louisville!
Which brings me to my next thought........
To me, it's painfully clear..... At our ceiling we can beat ANYBODY, literally anybody....... At our floor, because of our defense, we can lose to probably 90% of P4 teams...... by my count we are 1-5 against P4 unranked teams..... you cannot win anything of any substance in this situation.
We could beat anybody in the Elite Eight.... we could go out to a bad matchup in the first round....... odds are you won't get very far in any tournament like that.
Pope's tenure will be determined on if he can teach defense... right now it looks bad... real bad...... He can teach offense... it looks great... championship level. Defense has to get there or "the assignment" cannot be completed.
Sure would like to have two healthy point guards to make a run at things.
